Automata Movie Dystopian Glory

It seems like cinema is having a new wave of dystopian resurgence.  The Signal was my most recent fun dystopian movie (I have a blog that is half way done unveiling the ins and outs of that particular movie.  Gotta finish putting my thoughts on paper for that one.  Sorry for the delay, but in the mean time, trust me and just watch it.)  But with casting confirmations around Stephen King’s The Stand, The Passage has a completed film script, a Mad Max retread coming and with Harrison Ford signed on for Blade Runner 2 (which is news in itself worthy of declaring a resurgence, thank you very much) it just seems like everyone is buying in on the dystopian bandwagon.  But when I saw this particular trailer my mouth dropped.

Automata Movie Dystopian Glory

Automata totally looks like an even better Blade Runner dystopia than Blade Runner 2 could ever be. It looks really tight. Very interested. And the plot looks fantastic as well. Not sure about having Puss and Boots, Antonio Banderas play the lead. But he used to be a huge box draw. No? Eh. What worries me though is Melanie Griffith. Did you see her in that trailer? Oh my holy botox backlash Batman. What went wrong there? Sheesh. Eventually actors and actresses are going to realize that its just better to sag than stay frightfully and unnaturally taught their entire lives. Just say no to cosmetic surgery folks.

Anyway, regardless. This looks like a very well written and amazingly designed world.  Add a couple clever robot rules, a sadistic Blade Runner to the mix and voila, you have magic on your hands!  This really does look very intriguing.  I’ll be there come October 9th when its released.
