Eyepopping Dirt Biking on Water Footage
My very first go on a dirt bike was around the age of 10 while in Mexicali Mexico. I rode a little 50 and just fell in love with dirt biking. In my teen years I got the opportunity to tear up the woods of Maryland after my family left California on dirt bikes fairly regularly. Just adored riding as fast and as hard as possible.
Conversely, my first surfboard attempt came fairly early on in life. I remember surfing waves I had no business surfing at the age of 12 in Malibu… and more than one occasion when, by all rights, I shouldn’t have walked away alive. I never really got great as a surfer because we left the pipes of California for the little puddle splashers of the east coast much too early in my life. But I enjoyed both these things, and just thought they were so much fun.
But Robbie Maddison, has done the unthinkable here. He is literally walking on water. My brain really can’t even comprehend what is happening here, or how it is happening.
“The thing that sticks with me the most after that whole experience was how physically demanding it was. Honestly, I really thought that getting the right wave would have been easier [Laughs]. I don’t think the photos or video show how physical it was. You can’t see that when the wave broke right behind me, I honestly thought that might be the end of my life. I’ve never felt like I was in the wrong place at the wrong time more than I did right there. It was a near-death experience. At the end of the day, the images and footage say something pretty awesome, but the ferocity and how gnarly that thing was can’t really be put into words.”
Oh, no Robbie! We get it. I about peed my pants watching that wave inbound. You can’t crash on that thing. This is not an option. It’s just not good from a life sustenance standpoint. Going over the handle bars of a dirt bike, while being chased to ground by a 15 foot wave is just not survivable. The coral below will be where you stay. That much is for sure.
Apparently they have a behind the scenes video coming soon? I will DEFINITELY be posting that as soon as they bring it out. It will definitely be even greater than the production video, in that they have a TON of explanations of the HOW due to us all. We know this isn’t a hoax. But holy cow… how?
