I saw this movie, ABOUT TIME! My da rented it a long time ago...well, maybe a little less than a year ago but it certainly seems forever ago. ...Did you know that time shrinks as you get older? Take a ten year old kid - all they have is ten years of memory, and only about six of them are truly cognizant years. That is why to young people time moves slow; days go on forever. Summer goes on and on; holidays are a slow feast. It is because they have not been around long enough to get used to it. To old (older) people time moves fast, because older people have more years of cognizant experience; they are used to the element of time, so time seemingly moves faster and faster to them as they age because they are used to the hours, seasons, years unlike someone much younger, to whom everything is new. It is why my da keeps saying I am growing too fast, that only yesterday I was a child, but I have not grown any faster than normal. I can guarantee you this. ;) Time is so slow to me. I am taking forever to grow up.

Hmm...that was totally random, yes? But it just popped into my head when I said I saw ABOUT TIME a long time ago, when in actuality, it was less than a year ago; it just seems like a long time ago because...well you get it. :)

I LOVED this movie!! It was wonderful and you are so right, it is character and script driven. Special effects play no part here. This movie plays its cards in a very satisfying way and the payoff is pure emotional nirvana. When my da rented it, my sister and I watched it five times; twice with both our parents and one time with our mother. It is that kind of movie. We are talking about renting it now! Zut!

I loved the whole premise of how they traveled through time; all the checks and balances made logical sense...for the most part. No time travel movie makes perfect sense because the whole theory of time travel is sketchy at best. If you go back in time, you will ultimately change the future no matter what you do; you may not change your future but you will definitely change someone else's. Does time have flexible memory? Does it remain anchored? Does this mean time is split into infinite dimensions that can be changed without effecting the same timeline you live in? And if so, why? Yes, very sketchy. BUT as a vehicle you can creatively tell a very human story by what the characters do with this gift; in this case, it is a story of a young man's pursuit of love. However, it is the underlying theme of fathers and sons that resonates at the end. It is bittersweet, optimistic and kind.

I recommend this movie to everyone. You will not regret it. If you love sweetness; if you love movies with no violence, cursing or special effects; if you love great acting, and the pure skill of writers at their best, then this is your movie. See it. See it now. ...And may time move slowly for you so that you can truly enjoy it. ;)

PS Taylor, are you ever going to start the open forum for movies where we can start our own threads and conversations about random movies we have seen? I am very much looking forward to this. ...Yes, I am waiting. Patiently. ...Kind of. Mostly. Tomorrow, yes? :D
