What is art? Truly a question that persisted since old times and is as new today as it was then. What is art: Should we ask Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, Kant, Hegel, is art nature or is nature the art, is art a feeling, an experience or is it the imitation of the nature, an imitation of a feeling or of an experience? Is today`s art an ART? What are the criteria? What are the principles? What is the item that would describe today`s society as a trigger (if society is still an influential factor upon art) what is art? I mean I`ve been reading so many art theories, not just about art altogether as theories per each domain -architecture, sculpture, painting, drawing, graphics, photography, performance, body art, you name it - alongside with aesthetic theories. Art is nothing and art is everything. Be it you that is creating art or them who are looking at it, I imagine the process of defining art as parallel dimensions Universe, each universe with different criteria of what something is or should be. But my question, as it came to me thru my profession, what do you define as talent? Is talent something that another person is able of doing something u cannot do, even if u`d learn? Or is talent something that psychology defines as a high IQ genius that is able to come up with an unique original solution for a problem? Because ultimately every action we take daily is viewed as a "problem" to be solved and creativity or the way with deal with that specific problem is what makes us more or less creative or original. As I consider that artists in general create their own problems to solve in their unique way, which the everyday public is not aware.
Of course this is a very large polemic to have via comments, but working with young adults that truly do ask me why do they have to take art classes and hearing their definition on talent it really makes me sad, to be frank, sad because it does show not only the enviroment they do grow and develop into but how the society also goes on with very wrong concepts about a lot of things, not just art, but almost everything.
