I had debated whether to watch it at all. I read the book when it came out in the 80s. I saw the 90s film with Natasha Richardson. And in the current political environment of the US, I have felt far more disheartened and anxious than I care to live with daily, so I thought that watching this show might be too much. But it isn’t. It is perfect.

Just this week, the powers-that-be at work instructed us employees [paraphrasing] to lock down our personal social media and not post things that certain parties might find socially/politically offensive, as it could [and this is a stretch] affect the outcome of a work situation that, in turn, affects the bottom line of the company.
I am a blue dot in a red state, so speaking up, being seen, being counted as EXISTING – this is important to me. This is important, period. Speaking up is the foundation of democracy. The control of free speech and the manipulation and control of language is part of how authoritarians rise. In The Handmaids’ Tale, and in real life.

I too am counting the hours :)
