Oh my yes. Foster is insane on screen. Like wild eyed 100% of the time. Which I love. Kinda like he's always thinking, "I know what we ought to do!? We should build a time machine with this URANIUM I have in my POCKET!" Kinda like Doc from Back to the future. Just crazy awesome.

The reason why I like Bridges to play in the other movies with those pay the rent roles is because I want to know he has range beyond this Texan, toothpick chewing old gun toting character. If you know what I mean. He clobbers that role. It's like, all he has to do is drop the car into neutral and it goes. But is that acting?!? hahahaha. Sorta my beef with Kristen Stewart, which I love. She plays herself so perfectly and so naturally on screen... but can she play anything else? hahah.

So yeah, the acting here was totally off the hook. Just literally brilliant. I do think the relationship between Marcus and Alberto is like stereotyped beyond belief. I do think if Alberto had given the crap back with redneck jokes or something it would have worked better and been a little more progressive and a little less um... flat, it then would have made Alberto's death scene way the heck more interesting and more three dimensional. Just my 2 cents.

But oh, how I loved this movie.

Not that I wouldn't like to wax about the movie itself or speculate about after-endings. But my focus here is on the acting. Bridges has always been a 'good' actor. But his performance in "Crazy Heart" and this movie was brilliant. He's just got to stay away from some of those "pay the rent"-roles like "The Giver", "Iron Man", etc. to maintain his hard-earned, senior-achieved credibility.

As for Foster. When he's on the screen, I don't see or hear anyone else. Because you never can truly read him (no matter what role he's playing) makes him mesmerizing. His subtle nuances and delivery create a tension that captures my rapt attention in just about all his performances.

Do you remember when he played the teenage, long-black-haired, earring-ed, dressed-in-black whack-job who broke into Kevin Pollack's house in the Bruce Willis movie "Hostage"? Even then he took over the screen.
