I have replied to this stupid comment 7 times. No no no, your comment isn't stupid. Nevermind.

I can totally relate to that being in the dark business. Kids will do that to you! I'd own a movie pass but for my kids! hahah. But I'm glad I can help you out a bit, because I'm sure I'll need the help in the future. Thanks for hangin out on the site. I love hearing about folks wandering through and staying.

Until next time Dan.

Not bad... seen six of those movies already... two of them on my own Top Ten list... and two of them fresh from the library waiting to be seen this week. Since I discovered this site two months ago I have seen a bunch of movies that I have never evern *heard* of... sigh... and I used to be so "in the know" on current cinema until these strange beings called chill-dren entered my life... God bless 'em. Then again, without children I might not have seen two of the most fantastic movies of the year: Strange Magic and Coco.

We just had our traditional (begun just yesterday) New Year's poll, voting on the best movies we have seen as a family all year, which we will watch together again on New Year's Eve. This year's winner was Strange Magic (not that there was ant doubt). Coco might have won the top spot but was a late disqualification because it's not out on DVD yet.

Strange Magic sounds like a disaster... fairies vs. demons accompanied by a never-ending barrage of re-recorded pop songs... wait, wait!!! It's not as bad as it sounds! George Lucas produced the movie, came up the story and chose the songs... all so his daughters would have something good to watch... and the movie is incredible! The voices are great... especially Alan Cumming as the Bog King (a little safer for the kids to watch than Cabaret)... the writing is sharp... and the message is timely.

Boo to Disney for acquiring this movie in their big LucasFilms merger/deal and then simply BURYING IT. It is on a par with Disney at its best. I'd also say it's the best thing to come from George Lucas since American Graffiti. My wife was kinda listening to it in the other room while me and the kids were watching and she thought it sounded kind of dumb... but she eventually loved it as well (maybe not as much as Star Wars).
