I liked the movie…seen worse. But I do have questions. Yes he lost the house in the divorce but why? They had to pay for everything up front right? So did the wife get remarried and downsized later with someone else? Scary part was the procedure if they missed a dental filling your head can blow up. But they showed all the workers screwing around like they didn’t care..just like nowadays. I hope the wife’s hair and one eyebrow grow back major bushy. The girl lost her leg because her and her sister were protesting in Vietnam and the were sentenced to “shrinkage” and shipped with criminals in the tv box where to save her life she lost her lower leg…sister died due to lung issues in prison before the downsizing/Tv box debacle. I didn’t understand why methane was the earth killer instead of ozone depletion-people still fart whether you’re big or small. They did show how big the dragon flies were if you watched and explained why they had to be careful but due to location didn’t have many bug/bird issues. Cave was explained with them walking uphill. I think they destroyed some of it on the inside too that we didn’t see…I get he went back but student get the ending. They showed the grid on the dome shortage out so rain now got in…looks like he got a little car now to drive and when he looked at the old man…where did all the people go? I know there were more…my long story short is I rewatched Ishtar…it was better…ha!

Guys – I know this is a Zombie post but what a load of shit! I watched this probably a year after it came out on my last pre-covid long haul flight with my now wife. I fell asleep about 40 mins in (I never sleep on planes) yet my wife watched the whole thing and said it was a bizzare movie and said something about aliens coming to earth at the end. I watched it again today and was waiting for the aliens and not only was I disappointed I wasted 2hrs on this drivel but no aliens?

I now realise this film was so bad my wife’s brain fabricated an alternative ending as a self preservation mechanism to avoid damage. Much like how I for years believed there was an alternative ending to the movie ‘Big’ where Tom Hank’s adult girlfriend makes a wish to become small… Like what I did there? ;)

In short. It was awful. Beginning to end. Can’t believe that this is the cinematic hill you are choosing to die on. There are many other movies I was actually wrong about. But this isn’t one of them, that is for sure.

Just saying.

While this movie was weird, chopped, and tried to fit too many things under one hat, you crowned it with this utterly useless whatever you tried to do here.
A review? A try to explain things? A critic?

You say you were bored and didn’t pay attention which you clearly didn’t.

You could have saved your two cents, 3000 words, and time, by just shutting up.

Just so you kind of understand a little of what you chose not to watch or understand. The divorce situation criticizes that women have equality, can make their own choices, and decisions without men doing anything about it, yet in a divorce, women still get everything.

It shows that even in the best world, which could support and effort socialism, it won’t work because capitalism is the only way to go because there will always be people smarter, niftier, or whatever you want to call them than others.

It shows that while the leader has the best intend, at some point, in this case he, gets insane and plays god.

I doubt that there was anything at the end of that tunnel because if it was underground, why would you climb up? The live pictures were fabricated to make it believable.

This movie is, as is said, chopped, strange (which includes the camera work), and leaves questions unanswered. Which is the point of the whole movie. There is no one answer. But that there will always be people taking your money.

I liked the movie, I laughed more than movies you probably celebrate like there is no tomorrow, and I you should have just not written this garbage. The movie was enough. What you did helps nobody. And those who pretend so are as pretentious as you are.

Shame.

Where were all the insects when they went outside the net. There would have been insects EVERYWHERE a spider under every portable right outside the net community. Or the original communities. Spiders, flies, beetles..Everywhere aphids on the underside of leaves. Why did they foreshadow some social battle between big people and the small people and their rights.

When Damon’s character is about to be downsized, there’s a scene with male nudity. The floppy nature of the cocks in that scene ensure that men AND women will both get no enjoyment from it. It also does nothing to advance the plot and is- in point of fact- utterly gratuitous, serving only to lessen one’s enjoyment of the film, be they male or female.

Why is that scene in the movie? Are the filmmakers trying to be edgy by showing a bit of cock? Are they trying to make up for all the bush shown in films since the 60s? If they wanted to add an unnecessary scene which only serves to lessen the enjoyment of the viewer and does nothing to advance the plot, why not show King Kong climbing the Empire State building? I don’t like having to put up with seeing cocks on screen, if the movie isn’t about sex. If the movie IS about sex, then it doesn’t bother me at all. But this is the kind of movie that I might have sat down to watch with my mother. That one scene with the parade of limp dicks ensures I’ll never do that, but also kind of makes me nervous about watching ANY films with my mum. For fucks sake, if it’s a non-sexually-focused movie and it opens up a bag of soft cocks then please, PLEASE include a warning so that families aren’t ever put into horrific situations as described above!!

Ps: I know that ‘You’ aren’t responsible for, or have anything to do with putting warning labels on movies. I was just venting and expressing my thoughts on floppy-film-dick…

I didn’t see it because the billboards made it look like a movie about office administrative procedures but…
Some people are masochists and want to see see this sort of thing. But it needs to be presented with a storyline, which I think was as you said; Paul learning to make decisions for himself, the environmental question, and the socio-economic drama

So as far as why he sold the mansion was because apparently in the 2 seconds we spent with the divorce lawyer she was able to get a lot more of the money than half apparently even though she left him there. So he had to “downsize” to the apt and the shitty job.

They could of made it about how he gets back on his feet by his neighbor helping pay for his medical school or something. maybe threw a few scary scenes in there with an ant or something that gets past the netting (which no netting is impervious).
Even something more interesting that a weird ending where you meet up the specific day that those people are going underground for 8k years even though there would be plenty of time to still hang out on the surface until it gets really bad.

And then the ending of him just looking at the old man for a minute contemplating something wtf. this doesnt make sense its like somebody put together one path from a choose your own adventure book and thought that would be the right path when theres a few better story paths.
