A huge question for me is about her husband. Did he come to the house and find his wife had "killed" his son? If not, had she called him and that's why he came? Was he just wandering by and happened to stop by at that moment? The second question is, what kind of a father would leave his son lying there bleeding without calling an ambulance? It also doesn't make sense that he left his six year old daughter alone with her "dead" brother all by herself. He may have been in prison at one time, but that wouldn't make him a bad father too. Even if he really thought he'd be going back to prison, wouldn't a father be thinking of his children first? Obviously it would have been a crazy, hectic situation, but I don't know any parent who wouldn't have done something like lock his wife up in the van or in a room and deal with his son's situation first. I know this is just a movie, but for me this is a real sticking point.

I think it could be a double-twist. Meaning that the whole story was made to set him up for confession (similar to the story in shutter island movie), but not only that, also to seek radical change of his own dark side (removing the snakes so to speak). The director played with our minds, because we just like the main character could hear only voices, was it a real story however, we can’t tell. But what a coincidence that it all happened the day before he has to go to the court. I think the last phone he makes is to his wife.

Just finished watching this movie. I thought it was excellent and was searching for what others thought who he was on the phone to at the end when I found your review. There is a version dubbed into English but I think it is far more “real” in Danish with subtitles. I will be recommending it to my friends.
