Many thanks to Taylor for this delightful little movie that would have totally escaped my attention otherwise. As a matter of fact, I had almost dismissed this little gem as a similarly titled schlock horror movie, which is an entirely different movie, and one that surely does not deserve a place in THiNC.

Anyway, this little piggy of yours is a whole hog of headtrippy fun for me. Point being before the big reveal in the movie, I was feeling all smug and pleased with myself for thinking I had already figured out that it was either a Groundhog Day wannabe or a low-budget take on VR like Real Player One... only to be proven wrong... so very wrong, but all the more glad for that too.

And after I've read your excellent in-depth take on the choice between blissful ignorance and painful knowledge, I'm beginning to doubt even the meaning of the title, viz. is it named for the experimental guinea pig or the blissful, ignorant pig?

Finally, to cap things off, if I may, I'd like to make a movie suggestion apropos of the above right here (I hate to be hogging your "Make A Movie Suggestion", which I may have done of late anyway, ahem):

Okja
It's a Netflix Original about a satirical story of a super pig (what else?) and its human companion. Despite having no gut-punching twists or story-telling gimmicks here (much like Lizzie, cough, cough), it's safe to say it does have tonnes of talking points like corporate greed and human cruelty to animals, to name just a couple. On a more personal note, this film almost (but not quite) turned me into a vegan too. I hope I've pigged your interest.

No, we didn’t see it. I was just wondering how long they would play the game before resetting him again. They kept giving him the same 2nd life as Justin just with minor tweaks but at the end he seems resolved to not get his memory back so my question is what do they do with him then? Do they keep up the charade or reset him to the desert again? And after 20 years they just stop and let him loose or tell him he was part of an experiment? Sorry, I think too much! They should make a sequel of him 17 years from now since he’s supposedly been doing the trials for 3 years.

I don't think we ever saw that happen. Wouldn't that mean that they were getting close to the drug working? And wouldn't you want to try another test subject on the same drug regimen in order to reproduce the same results? Or maybe all three subjects are always on the same drug version numbers etc?

I would assume that after a round of treatment, they'd tweak the drugs and go again. 20 years though. Wow. But doesn't that speak to his desperation at the hopelessness of his cause? Sure, doc, sign me up for 20 years of mindlesseness. And can I get a double to chase that down with while we are at it?

As a person who sometimes feels cursed by having too much knowledge at my fingertips, I can almost see the allure of being ignorant and in bliss. No, not really. Anyway, watched this flick today and I thought it would be more confusing. I understood from the get go that someone was manipulating things behind the scenes but it was still an entertaining watch that makes you think after. I’m not sure I could commit to 20 years of this kind of experimentation no matter how much I was hurting, though. I kept thinking “what do they do with him after he accepts having no memory?” Do the actors in his life keep playing along or do they just keep resetting him to try new drugs?

AHHH. Makes more sense. I never even open up the movie selection on planes anymore. I roll with Netflix/Prime or load my own movies onto my iPad before I fly. Just thought I'd find a new airline that rocked the independent film world! Drat. hahahah.

Great movie, wonderful recommendation, thanks for that Amiga!! hahah. Probably the only real weakness of this movie was that they explained too much at the ending. But, that's alright. Still plenty to talk about.

Wait, WHAT? What airline had this movie in its list of movies to watch? I have got to dump my status on Delta right now. That is baffling. Anyway, thanks for the recommendation. It was a fun watch.
