I may be going out on a limb here but believe that OA actually traveled with Homer to a whole different Dimension, D4 while Hap and Steve with BBA's help went to D3.

My reasons for this is, During the Scene in the club (E7) Elodie tells OA that they are all connected in Echoes, but OA asks if there is a way to leave the Echo. Elodie replies by telling her yes, but it is very difficult and you may never know each other. Later in E8 while Homer is shot, OA tells him that she will take him to a place where they may not know each other, dont forget about us and we will find each other ( along those lines), meaning that She takes Homer outside of the Homer-Hap- OA echo.

So while OA and homer jump to D4 outside their joint echo, hap thinks they all are jumping to D3, so i took it as when OA falls from wire and smashes her head, that she isnt in the D3 body and Hap is alone. Except Oa doesnt know that Steve wants to jump to her, (with BBA's help) he follows Hap into D3. BBA may not know that OA planed to Jump ship to another Dimension outside of the Echo or how to make that jump.

Sounds weird but that was my take on it.

Eric, that’s an interesting take but I have to admit it would be kind of a let down if that’s the path they ultimately took with the show! The fantastical is what makes it so interesting.

Hello All,
My small theory is that the only "real" dimension is the so call D3. It's the "real" world where all we saw is just a TV show, which is actually truly the case, the OA is just a TV show. The other dimension all have "sci-fi/fantastic happening that are impossible in the real world because they are simply in a TV show. The meta of this the OA (Only Actors) is about how actors can create multiple personas that inform their characters. The D1 and D2 only "exist" in the minds of the actors, like a psychological echo that helps them play their role in real life. The entire focus of the D2 universe was to get someone to look at the rose window. When that happen, what did Karim saw : It's just a TV show ! Season 3 could be about actors struggling with the emergence of the character's persona trying to take over the real self, probably first and foremost with Steve. Being an actor blurs the line of personality and endangers actors of losing themselves into their fictionnal characters. Just wanted to trow this stone in the water.

@rasberry - totally agree. Prairie continued to refer to Nina as her sister... but all she meant was that Nina was her alternate self if she hadn’t been in the bus accident. A D1/D2 self relationship. I didn’t make that clear at all... but that is for sure what is happening here. It’s like if Homer had referred to his psychologist self as a brother. But even that example doesn’t explain it well enough because there was no split between D1/D2 for Homer. Sure, he forgot himself. But he was still the same guy. Even HAP was himself. Can’t think of a better example.

Yeah, there was really never any question that Prairie and Nina were the same but in different dimensions until Nina made a different choice in her dimension to not get on the bus.

Nina is not Prairie’s sister. Nina is Prairie in Dimension 2 (where Joe Biden is president and most of season 2’s storyline takes place). They are one and the same, to an extent. Easiest way to think of it is this. You have two realities, each with a little russian Nina with a dad involved with the Voi (mob). In dimension 1, the Voi send a message to all the big players including Nina’s dad by running the bus with all their kids off a bridge and into the freezing water, where all the kids die. Little Nina chooses to return to the world from the afterlife, but has to give up her sight. Her father doesn’t want the Voi to know his daughter survived, so he smuggles her to a school for the blind in the US, promising he’ll come for her soon, but is ultimately murdered by the Voi, thus orphaning Nina. Enter an American couple who have come to adopt a baby boy, but see and fall in love with little blind Nina and adopt her instead, and decide to call her Prairie as her eyes are blue like the prairie skies. That’s the Prairie we know. In dimension 2, little Nina never got on the bus, never lost her sight, and grew up spending time with her father as a russian heiress. In this reality she was a medium as well, being able to communicate with animals and trees and plants. When Prairie jumps at the end of season 1, she takes over the body of this version of Nina. Hope that makes sense.

About Prairie having a sister named Nina - it's my understanding (and I could be wrong) that Nina is not Prairie's sister - Nina was Prairie's name in Russia - but Prairie herself, just in another dimension where her life went very differently. Did I miss something while watching?

Actually yes, it makes perfect sense to me and I think we actually untangled what most likely happened minus the BBA situation which I’m sure we will find out next season. Hell, I’m just glad I understood it all. I may have to do a Taylor and get a pen and paper and start making notes next time! Imagine reading these comments and not having seen the show and wondering wth we are going on about! I actually almost quit this show last season as the first episode seemed slow and I just thought OA might be crazy but when it got going it was really so good and I was so wrong!
