I know it’s well over a year later, but my pandemic ondemand is always on these days. I just got done watching The Wind and immediately went online as well to get a better understanding. I loved the movie really. It seemed a bit slow at times but I was never bored. Let me rephrase… After seeing the whole movie I realized why it was slow at points and it was necessary to relay to the viewer a little bit of that feeling of isolation. The relationships are very complex and I had different ideas of what was actually going on throughout the movie. My conclusion had been that it was the Demon Prairie book and the negative feelings that brings it out. I. E. The emotionally weaker the person, the stronger the demon. But that didn’t hold much water. I too was surprised at the end. The last 10 minutes is the first time I had suspected what may be going on. And since I’ve never heard of the film before today, I didn’t hear the infamous “twist at the end” critique that causes you to guess even more what’s going on. I probably would’ve figured it out if it had been the case. Thanks for the detailed breakdown!

OMG! When I watched this movie, I missed out seeing the genre, Horror, which wasn't intentional. I thought it was a drama. Imagine my surprise during the movie. I could feel Lizzy's isolation right from the start of the movie. My thoughts were swinging between wild animals and a thief. But then I saw Emma following her after death. A lot of thing was going on and at one point I even suspected Lizzy's husband playing tricks on her. I even thought maybe it was some kind of alien trying to scare her (too much of Shyamalan Night's movie, I guess). I wasn't happy how the movie ended. I didn't like the fact that Lizzy killed her husband. I was left too shocked and confused about the ending. I googled and yours is the best explanation I'm happy to agree with. Thank you for adding the explanation about the Prairie Madness. Now I can make sense of Lizzy, the ending and the movie.Thank you.

I doubt propriety had a thing to do with Lizzy not wanting the preacher to stay overnight in her cabin-men will be men, after all, especially in a place where women are few and far between.
You mixed characters up while referring to both women. You state Emma was murdered however, later you switch the deceased character to Lizzy and the living to Emma. Just saying. Friendly correction.
