I just watched this movie. There’s a little info you remembered incorrectly. Her brother Jaime was killed fighting for the government and it was her husband David that joined the other side and died fighting for them. I’m thinking that’s an important distinction….the love of your life goes to fight on the other side during wartime. That seems a more seriously emotional conflict a significant other has to deal with.

And I didn’t care too much for the ending. It was disappointing for me. Why would they need to begin again when they had already discovered what the appropriate drug recipe should be? And why was Chrysler pretending to be Ruth after she saw his face? I think she was unconscious when the twin brother was revealed so, for all she knew, this was the “real” Zecharian. And she would remember that she showed her face to him. Anyway, that didn’t make much sense to me.

Now, I loved the message it was trying to convey. I honestly was thinking that, in the end, it was going to be Ruth at the controls and that she just put up a picture of Zecharian to make Chrysler think that’s who her captor was. Yeah, the revenge thing got in the way of the deeper messages about war, torture, and what each side does to achieve their goals. Yeah, I think Ruth being at the controls at the end would have been a better choice.

It’s not just you and election year wars are for personal gain and to cover up past misdeeds. Yes, he’s a bad guy but there were better ways to handle the situation without inciting war with a country that is willing to give it.

If she switched sides, she would have just gotten the poison, even if she was going to poison the government forces. No need for subterfuge. Once the UKLA forces are hooked, she switches them to the slow acting poison version. Her revenge is complete.

Took me a while to put that together. Movie foreshadowed and subtly blended all together. I liked it.

I had to go back and rewatch the last few minutes myself to make sure I got it right. So it’s kind of open ended where we don’t know if she will poison everyone and get her revenge or continue her work. She was totally unhinged so I’m leaning toward poisoning everyone.

Oh, and you forgot to add the finale for the movie! After she accepts the job and starts working she says she needs coloring agent and proceeds to take out the stuff they use to put down the test subjects when they are done with them. Does she use it? Who knows? The movie ends there.
