Thanks for the geography help James. Loved this movie.

Someone told me yesterday they loved Green Room, and I was like... oh, if you liked Green Room you need to watch Blue... Blue... BLUE! GaH! And I couldn't find it on my site. Blue isn't a very unique word unfortunately. But then this comment came through and I was like, YES! BLUE RUIN! So good.

So thanks!

He didn't travel from Florida, that was Rehoboth, Delaware. That was maybe 100-150 miles from where this took place in Virginia.

However, the postcard? Absolutely the postcard be bought in Ocean City, Maryland. Earlier in the film, when he met his sister and was in the diner speaking with her, he asks her "Did you get my letter? The postcard?" and she replied something to the effective "No, postcards take a few days."

This movie had me biting my nails the entire time. I love this freaking movie!!!! I would say this movie is darn near perfect. Also I do believe he died and that he sent the postcard before he died. He also knew he was going to die. What I am wondering is if Sam and her daughter survived? We will never know.....

It's the post card he bought at the gun store before he travels home. He mentions to his sister that he sent it to her later in the movie and she tells him it hasn't arrived yet but post takes a while.

Excellent article. Very insightful.

Hey there P!
One of these questions I can definitively answer. The other - not so sure. Ok, the first question, "Keys are in the car" mumbling. And I haven't seen the movie since I reviewed it, so bear with me. William I believe his name is - Dwight's half brother - he is the key to this entire movie. As Dwight was dying (or not, we'll talk about that in a moment), after Kris shot him, his last thoughts were for William. How do we know? Because he's thinking about his getting into the car, and running from both him (Dwight), and his family. That both are broken, and if the feud is going to stop, it will stop with him. If the chaos and the carnage is to finish, then it'll be through William. So, Dwight, the older brother, to his William half brother, was thinking about his getting away. Physically, and also existentially.

Now, about the postcard. I think there are two possible explanations for the postcard. The first is that Dwight survived and is now at the beach, and he's sending in a postcard celebrating his win? Or celebrating his survival? Or something like that? That seems extraordinarily vindictive to me, and doesn't really make much sense. But what if he sent the postcard before he traveled up? Post takes a couple days to make that kind of a route. And the activities of the movie happened very quickly. No? So my vote is that he sent it before he traveled up from Florida. Now again, I'm not even remembering the post card clearly. Where did we see it? At the house where the final shout out was?

Just thinking about loud.

Hi - thanks for this great review, but I have a few questions: what was the significance of the last line 'the keys are in the car'? And secondly, when I saw the postcard land on his floor with the other junk mail in the final scene, I assumed maybe that meant he was still alive - but I can't find any other theories on this online. Could you shed any light on the matter?

Thank you so much! :)
