Da kev is so on point here! Just everything...ditto!! Also to the author, you said the mother committed suicide but you meant the FATHER and yes, I do believe that was the case. They had no reason to show her fake stuff when she already knew the truth cuz she was there..duh. That whole thing happened years b4 she went to this facility so she was already privy to that info. Unless the movie specifically had her say something like "my father died but it all seemed very suspicious to me" why would they introduce something random like a fake suicide type thing that took a split second to show and never mention it again? That's dumb. It was made pretty clear that uma knew exactly why and how her dad died and who was responsible. My whole issue with the movie was like...if they knew all the girls were just gonna be murdered at the end why did they even bother giving them therapy or doing anything with them whatsoever? Its not like any of them would EVER leave or be able to communicate with their loved ones (or anyone else) once inside this place so what happens inside there will always be a secret...im sure the whole staff knows the deal..they sure seemed to. Why not let the girls have a great old time before theyre killed and replaced? I cant think of any reason why not. And who cares what they ate 4 dinner too if they didnt need to be skinny? Just give them some fried chicken! Its so mean to starve people 4 no reason 4 two months and THEN murder them on top of it! How was that overweight girl not passing out everyday from lack of food btw and how did she not lose like 100 lbs?? Id never survive on that little food and Im 128lbs at 5'5. They really want a bunch of HANGRY ASS women to deal with? I also dont understand how sending an adult away 2 a facility against their will is in any way legal. In the US that's called kidnapping!! These women are adults! Amarna or whoever said her agents and managers sent her!! What!? How did they have any right or permission to do that!? They arent even family! By all this logic, an adult daughter could send her own mother there. Its one adult female sending another adult female against their will in both situations. Yea not sure how any of this isnt kidnapping since none of these people are minors or considered a danger to themselves or others or being sent by doctors or the government. Its literally an adult just saying they personally dont like the behavior of another adult and choosing to send that adult away against their will without anyones permission and 4 no reason other than they just want 2 send that person away. Also the person cannot leave. How the eff is that not kidnapping again?? Its not even like the movie is saying that male relatives and husbands can do it, cuz her mom did it and that 1 girls HIRED production team or record label, aka HER EMPLOYEES, did it! Wait is a record label your employer or employee? I dunno, either way it makes no sense. If anyone could send anyone away 4 no reason then that society would be total chaos. Also yea they drug them cuz every night they have to take molds of their body parts and scan like every cell of their body basically to make sure the copies are close enough in look, voice, everything. Ofcourse, they wont have the same DNA which makes things pretty tricky if any of them ever commit a crime but hey, maybe they have a way 2 fake that, who knows. I did think it was pretty hilarious that they had such advanced tech they could basically turn 1 person into another but didn't have a way to get that chicks panic attacks under control or make her feel comfy with her new fam enough 2 fit in enough 4 them 2 not take such drastic measures of sending her away. They also expect us 2 believe that not 1 of these replacements has ever EVER effed up and been made b4? Not 1 of them has ever caused enough suspicion to where a family says "omg this is not my daughter!" In the history of this place? None of them have ever blown the whistle? None of them have ever been caught not remembering a childhood memory or something? Sorry but you can't give someone a life time worth of memories in 2 months and expect them 2 remember someone else's entire life and all the memories with everyone they know and all that kind of stuff. People would find out pretty quick that these replacements are totally fake and that every girl who comes home from that place suddenly has totally different minor medical issues and quirks and somehow cant remember like 80% of their life b4 they went in. Its just so stupid! If 1 of the girls had like 15 yrs of horseback riding experience or some other talent or knowledge, you cant just learn that in a few months. They shouldve just gone the easy route and made them clones or like copied their brains or something that is much much more believable. That's my take.

Hey Mea - yeah... she dies. Towards the end of the movie, Uma and Chloe make their way into a garden where they see the lifeless bodies of former Paradise girls ensnarled in the leaves, including Amarna.

Sorry if this comes as terrible news? hehehe. But yeah, she died.

Oh no, I totally respect your view and am cracking up over the Milla Monster now! Some explanation about that would have been really helpful but they don’t even bother to try. It’s a definite plot hole. But there’s many plot holes in this film if you think about it and of course the science is just silly because we all know you just can’t turn some random into a perfect clone of another. But I think by the costumes and sets in this film, it’s meant to be some kind of strange fairy tale of sorts? And nothing makes much sense in fairy tales.

Haha, don't mind me, Lisa, I was just royally annoyed by the ludicrous Millaboss that came out of nowhere and stretched my tolerance to breaking point. And I just realized I'm not the only one making a fuss of it, looking at you, MG, ha. I'll happily concede though that the movie still has some merits, like the fanciful costumes and lush sets. More importantly, the mere fact that the movie is some sort of a feminist rallying cry against patriarchal dominance must also be commended. And it's also possible the script had to undergo a late late rewrite to give Ms Jovovich like er... more things to do? Or maybe scenes that might have provided some vital explanation for the Millaboss were left on the cutting room floor for some reason? In any case, I hope I've not ruined your enjoyment of the movie too much, haha.

Oh dear, this is one awful movie, all right. I admit I had trouble staying awake for much of its running time, but that's before that Milla-flower-vine-monster-thingy shows up. I mean just what the bleep!? How has anything that has gone on before justified the appearance of such a totally out-of-place boss monster? Honestly, I thought I was watching another forgettable YA dystopian movie, like a clone of Level 16, albeit with better visuals and bigger stars, and so I was content to let it slide like any other time-wasters. Not this though!

I can overlook laughable plot holes like a distinct lack of security measures in the form of sentry guards and locked doors (I honestly don't remember seeing even one door that is locked!!?) in the 'strictly no visitors' underground area. I can also forgive the clunky exposition which is the replacement girls standing around like over-eager information kiosks just waiting to explain everything to our escaping heroines. And I can definitely go easy on the science or lack of science in the assumption that fingerprints and other biometrics unique to every individual do not exist, so the replacement girls only need some facial surgery and 2 months worth of behavioural training to assume the identity of their originals. Yet all these still pale in comparison with a plot twist too far that is the Milla boss monster reveal. It reminds me of the exobiologist petting the snake alien scene in Prometheus. I mean it was so dumb it broke the entire movie for me, in the same way that Prometheus scene broke the entire Alien franchise for me. Sigh.

I think it was definitely the real Uma that stabbed the guy because she was wearing the necklace, which the fake Uma gave back to the real Uma on the boat. Also, it shows the one that stabbed the guy with Amara's hair pin (secret map) to where they were supposed to meet, which the fake Uma was never aware of. Even though The real Amara was dead (they showed her hanging in the vines in the cave) presumably the real Uma just wanted to go to where the map was anyways to start a new life.

But honestly, I wish the writers would've let the real Amara find a way to escape and have the movie ending with the real Uma meeting her at he location on the map. Also, I wish they would've gave some background on WTF Milla's character was, some kind of vampire/succubus thing? I got the impression that once the replacements were ready to go back to the originals girls lives, Milla's character was killing them specifically to somehow drained the "life force" out of them to stay young as she said "at mother's age, I can't exactly stop now, who would want me then". BUT WHY? why go that route with no explanation? She could have just as easily been a greedy, evil woman providing the same service, making replica girls and killing the originals for money. Why the whole vampire/succubus super natural angle, if you're not going to explain it, or have some way that it actually is plays into the importance of the story?

Honestly, I was a little surprised, but not that much. I thought it was basically like a modern day "Stepford Wives" where they were not killing the girls but turning them into some type of artificially controlled automatons.

One last thing. Did anyone else notice... When the girls were walking through the bamboo grove, it said "ANNA" on one of the bamboo stalks. This was earlier in the movie, long before we learned of the replacements or that Uma's replacement's real name was Anna. I was wondering if that was somehow going to be a clue, but it turned out to be pretty meaningless.
