Watching the Director's Cut, it leaves little doubt that Deckard is a Replicant. But watching the original and Blade Runner 2049, it becomes obvious that this is a question that no filmmaker is willing to answer. And I like that, especially because the truth is denied to Deckard himself. He doesn't know if he is a Replicant or not. The uncertainty feels right.

Today is BLADE RUNNER DAY!!! Happy November 20th, 2019 everyone!!!!

Cough. I agree - and great points. Because the film is a Noir-grounded film, that is where that voice over mentality comes from. But I like your point about Deckard's motivations in the film. But I wouldn't say, "as a human" because I have long been on record as saying that he is definitely a replicant.

And as a non-Star Trek fan, Khan is the only Star Wars film I have objectively enjoyed. (Well, there was that J. J. Abrams Star Wars film, with Star Trek actors in it, that was pretty cool! hahaha.) Khan hit all the beats, and really was exciting. I'll never forget those things going into those two guys' ears. Man. Nightmares.

I really don't have anything interesting to say, since I think your post was very encompassing. I will say I was amazed that Ridley Scott brought back the voice-over in the Final Cut. It not only is unnecessary, with Harrison Ford's bored voice, but it betrays the themes of the movie, particularly in the final scene. When Roy saves Deckard's life, the voiceover makes us believe that he did it to be decent, or heroic, or whatever. That's nonsense! He did to be remembered! He wants someone to remember him, he (like any human) doesn't want to be lost in oblivion. So, the Director's Cut is my favorite.
And just as an aside, The Wrath of Khan survived the test of time. It's not just the best Star Trek movie(and I don't even like Star Trek), it's an excellent movie in its own right.

This is such a great question, I'm going to do a little post credits primer. Love love love this question. There are three movies that I have studied the various prints for, and have an extreme opinion about. Star Wars (Used to be the Despecialized Edition - but now it is the Star Wars: The Silver Screen Edition), Alien 3 (The assembly cut) and Blade Runner! Alright, writing it up now.
