Your inclusion of Marta on the family tree reminds me of a theory I had before I saw the movie. My theory was that Marta was going to be revealed to be Harlan's illegitimate daughter, and that would've made her a suspect.

I absolutely loved this film. The details were what made it so fun such as the letter with the invisible ink that only Linda would have known how to read since she mentioned earlier in the film that the only way to connect to her father was to play games and that was their game. I still miss the walkthroughs though. I think this film could have benefitted from one.

Just to be clear, Ransom absolutely killed Fran. She dies in the hospital and Marta bluffs that she is alive so that Ransom confesses to “attempted murder”. It’s after he does this that she reveals Fran actually died and he’s confessed to actual murder. That turns out to be the only actual murder in the movie.
