Consistent. Be consistent. Actually, that breaks everything if your key detail is consistency. Best Actor would have to be where you go. Or... you flip all the way around the other way and create male and female movie categories??!? hahaha.

But mainly, stop focusing in on Hollywood-centric films, and look at the film world in general. If you have ever subscribed to Variety or any of the Hollywood trade rags, the movie companies are constantly marketing for the Oscar Voting body to consider their film. Pshhhaaw. That MEANS that the Academy is focusing on the wrong things right off the top. Money. It's all about money.

Enough. Liked your ideas though. Gave me a lot to think about.

You mentioned you're all for diversity. What do you think about having a Best Female Director category and a Best Male Director category? TIME wrote an article to explain why the Academy's rules for Best Director led to women not being nominated for this year's Best Director category https://time.com/5763937/oscars-2020-female-directors-shut-out/

Since they already have Actor In a Lead Role & Actress In a Lead Role categories why not for directing? But if we allow for Best Male Director and Best Female Director does this create a slippery slope? Why not Best Male Editor & Best Female Editor? Best Male Costume Design & Best Female Costume Design?...etc.

Should we aim to be consistent?
Or are there times it's ok or even best to be inconsistent?
I favor being consistent so the case for adding Best Female Director seems like a strong one to me https://www.indiewire.com/2020/01/alma-harel-oscars-best-director-category-male-female-1202203529/

What if being consistent means taking away Actor In a Lead Role & Actress In a Lead Role categories and having just one category : Acting In a Lead Role; and for the Actor In a Supporting Role & Actress In a Supporting Role categories being combined into Acting In a Supporting Role?

I think Once upon a Time in Hollywood is classic Tarantino! Yes the violence is reserved for the end but his style is ever-present. He's always been a fan of pop culture and finally got to make a movie that is 100% that.

I would love to see Parasite win something so that people pay more attention to great international films, but there are so many good choices here!

I was really hoping to see more love for Parasite and I know I keep talking about it but Uncut Gems should have been on this list somewhere for sure. But as usual we have the same names and faces. I enjoyed Once Upon a Time in Hollywood but it’s definitely not one of QT’s best in my opinion. It’s no Reservoir Dogs!
