"We know for a fact that young Cole must experience the airport without older Cole first, before he is able to experience it in tandem" wrong from the start. The whole point is that the time travelling him was always there, that is exactly why it is not a paradox.

Also as to who raspy voice was, fraid you are not right about that either, the homeless man called Cole Bob, it was him. Don't forget that the order we meet time travellers is not the order that they meet us.

Now the part that you are stuck on, free will vs determinism, would it blow your mind to point out you can have both simultaneously? Free will does not require timelines, determinism isn't 'depressing' because you still made the choice that you wanted. How is this possible? Because to the universe time is just another dimension laid out. Everything we do chronologically, fits together because it couldn't do otherwise.

Just watched this. Great film. One problem with your theory ... I believe Cole experiences dreams of the airport scene throughout the film. This would seem to make it less likely there were as many timelines as you're suggesting.

Oh yeah, that Westworld trailer is nice! I don’t watch many shows from the SyFy network because some of them are just goofy but 12 Monkeys deserved way more recognition than it ever got as the show cast was amazing. They are also great about labeling all the years so you can kind of keep track of the time jumps otherwise it would be really confusing.

I actually watched season 1 as soon as it first came out. And I really enjoyed it. Never went back to it, not because I didn't like it, but it just slipped off my radar. Maybe I should consider going back to it? Just decided I need to finish watching Season 2 of Westworld, just so I can watch season 3, which, the trailer just looks so incredibly boss.

While it’s been forever and a day since I saw this film, I recently watched the SyFy show on Hulu of the same name based on this film. I know you don’t watch many shows for time purposes, but the series is actually amazing. They flesh out so many things from the movie. It’s got a number of seasons so it’s definitely not something you can binge in a day but I think you’d enjoy it.
