Uh, it's something I've been kvetching about for 6, 7, 8 years here? Low hanging fruit? HAhahah. Then why doesn't it stop?!?! For the record, I'll stop bitching about American Superhero movies, the moment I see it getting better. Just saying.

I will say, there have been some really cool Superhero indie movies that have come out lately that does give me a ray of hope. The Invisible Man was fantastic. Totally shafted by corona, but hopefully Universal's early release to digital will give it more legs? I Am Not Okay With This was really fantastic. Freaks was worth a watch and great for being such a small Indie. Heck, you can't forget the amazing Joker... you get the idea.

Dude, I wish it was low hanging fruit. I literally have no real world friends that actually agree with me on this point. None. Zero. You might be my first. Nice to meet you, friend! hahaha.

Yeah, that is stiff competition. Callibre is so full tilt, and such an epic downward spiral that it really shouldn't be compared to anything. Destroyer is just great filmmaking, top to bottom, with great acting, great screenwriting, great cinematography. If anything, what you are saying about Nomis is what I thought about Dragged. But that could have been my bias against Mr. Gibson of late. But I totally get that. Not every low rated movie is going to work for everyone. Comes with the territory. I was just totally confused most of the movie and expected so little out of the film that I was surprised it even held my attention.

I'm a sucker for movies with a twist (or two) in the tale, so while this movie has that twist ... in spades, just about everything else sucks big time for me! I agreed that it tries very hard to be the next Se7en, but in reality it ends up being closer to and just about slightly better than The Snowman (2017), which is the absolute worst police procedural of recent vintage.

The worst aspect about Night Hunter for me is the arbitrary shift in focus on the protagonist. Looks the world to me this movie was about the vigilante ex-judge (Kingsley), before Cavill's dime-a-dozen detective enters the fray and takes over proceedings... well, up until Simon and Nomis take centre stage that is. I mean had this movie concentrated solely on Kingsley, who is a far more interesting and dubious character than everyone else, this thing might have worked!

A little FYI, I watched this movie as part of a crime movie mini binge-watch from a few months back, so while I reckoned this movie was pretty awful, I was comparing it to other exemplary movies as my point of reference. Oh, the other crime movies from my binge-watch list?
Calibre (2018)
Destroyer (2018)
Dragged Across Concrete (2018)
