what? So interesting. This group of women had controlled this town for decades. They just had to decide what they were going to do, and who was on what side. For me, I was like, yeah, makes sense.

I read your specific questions - and I was like, sort of rings a bell? But I didn't think the movie was good enough for me to even scroll up and figure out what you were asking! hahaha. So I guess, in one sense, you are right. It was an interesting movie, I loved the texture of it, and the local contextualization. But yeah, I get it. Definitely wasn't an airtight plot, with logical conclusions.

I don't get the ending at all. Why should Officer Coletti listen to the 3 matriarchs and wait till 'the crack of dawn' to make an arrest at the brothel? Not to mention not dredging the bay for Gorski's body, having been convinced by the matriarchs not to.

What hold did the 3 nice, grandmotherly 'godmothers' have over Coletti? All along it was shown that Enid was the one getting a free pass from Coletti, even during a murder investigation. Also, does a delayed arrest at the brothel mean that our matriarchs knew that Alexis would kill Enid before dawn? Had they in fact given Alexis their blessings to kill Enid, so to speak? And with Enid dead, shouldn't suspicion of her death fall automatically on the now-M.I.A. Enid's girls like Alexis and friend? And if so, does that mean the matriarchs would do anything in their power, including inciting a murder, in order to protect the women of their own, but not for out-of-towners like Enid's girls?

Sorry about that, but the movie, while enjoyable enough for a crime movie, just ended with too many unanswered questions that I just couldn't help but feel a bit cheated.
