I haven’t seen any comment regarding the beginning scene of the movie in which Won Ho is filling his car with gas and then the movie seems to go into a flashback mode where the rest of the story then goes forward.

Don’t know how guns work but is the flash from a gun greater at the end of the gun in the direction of the target? If that is the case, it looks like Won Ho shoots Rak. However, the fact that the two mute drug creators continue in their merriment suggests they are not bothered by the sound they heard and supports Rak shooting Won Ho.

It was won-ho who got killed because the both muted person was still enjoying, playing they were not worried or sad which means they strongly believed that Mr Lee will be fine. They knew it's not the Mr Lee who got killed.
That's my conclusion

I dont know why I saw something different from everyone else. I saw the flash from the left and then the left side of the bldg. To me, it means the shot was fired from the right and the person that was hit was pushed backwards, allowing the flash to fill the rest of the room. Then, there's a shriek from one of the mutes. She loses her balance and later recovers from her shock and moves towards the truck.
In other words, Lee was shot by the cop.
but, that was my take.

If we were to talk about the un-extended cut and it was independent from the extended version, the one who pulled the trigger makes a good conversation.

When I saw that ending, I had to play that gunshot scene many times. To me, the spark looked like it fired from Mr. Lee's position, left side.

Mr. Lee is cunning, intelligent, manipulative and only cared for people he considers his people (i.e. his adoptive mom and the mute & deaf savants). At the scene where detective Won Ho was forced to take the drugs, Mr. Lee did provoke Park Sun Chang there. Mr. Lee, made drugs for a living and it is impossible for him to present that cloudy looking drug If he was the honest Rak, he plays to be, he should have notified the police about it.

Mr. Lee, at any point of this movie, does not want to accept defeat and wants to be in control. He was always one step ahead. He did not even flinch when he pulled that trigger on Ha Rim which says a lot. He always had secrets withheld from the police. For instance, the savant duo had guns and bombs and they were skilled to use it with lax.

I think that the detective's reason of persistence to chase Mr. Lee up north was mixed guilt over the girl's death, sense of responsibility, and a whole lot of obsession. However, in the end, only his exhaustion was left inside a fragile empty shell.

That picture at the end of their teary eyes speaks it all. Mr. Lee continues to be the intelligent and manipulative evil. The detective just wants to end his exhaustion.

Mr. Lee killed himself. The scene was this cold ice tundra which represented where Mr. Lee had found himself. Mr. Lee was never really happy and his life was a big paradox.

Either the two.
1. Mr. Lee gun is a silencer? they pulled the trigger simultaneously and killed each other. Not a gun expert but his gun seems different from Won-ho.
2. Mr. Lee killed Won-ho, if not the car would have left. The car never left minutes after the shot, it's just there.

I just finished watching. As a armorer, I can tell you the sound of the gunshot was definitely a the .45 in front of Mr. Lee.

I agree 100% with you. If you also look at it this way, if Won-Ho would have killed Mr. Lee, he would have exited the cabin to kill the two cooks.
