I think I understand how the 'quantum entanglement = precognition' concept works now. Well, so long as a future self meets up with a past/present self, then past/present self will be able to experience all that future self has experienced from then on. In the movie, foster child James has a chance meeting with James2 at younger, shorter-bearded Elliot's, and so from then on, kid James will have precognition ability, as well as be predestined to live the life of James2 (if they made the same choices and stuck with the same universe of James Prime). This will explain why the bad guys would know about James' precog ability from the outset.

As for how it is possible that an even younger aged James could have visions about his mother's death, I think it is possible that a future James could make a jump back into time to visit his younger self before his mother's death, in order to impart his life choices and experiences, so to speak, and to let the kid decide if he wants to follow the footsteps and live the (not so good) life of James Prime. In other words, let the kid choose. I supposed that is the true meaning of volition, in a nutshell?

That's provided quantum entanglement works only across space, a concept which Einstein derided as 'spooky action at a distance'. But what if particles can be entangled across time as well? I believe some brilliant minds have already demonstrated that 'spooky action' can indeed work 'at a delay' too. If that's the case, we don't even need time machines or time travel, maybe each and every one of us already has some inherent precog ability in real life, we just don't know how to use it at will?

Please excuse the silly rumination, but great interview, by the way. I completely missed out on the significance of the very last shot of the movie, the one that zooms in on kiddie James, like 'Was the entire movie a premonition to him?', what the ??!! Wow, what an absolutely brilliant way to conclude a movie, gotta hand it to them! Bravo!

And oh, I shouldn't take the credit for suggesting Volition, in fact, I only watched it after seeing it being mentioned on your 'Movie Suggestion Thingy', heheh! Credit should really go to Naveen!
