Congratulations on this review! you seem to be the only one courageous enough to openly state: the alien is not just a monster from space, it’s a metaphor! My thoughts on it: a metaphor for what cosmonauts often found in space, after years of intense competition among others, for not caring about anything else!
In the end, Konstatin, probably from Tsiolkovsky, voluntarily separated from the monster, killing himself; he made a moral choice. Also, like Emperor Constantin, who in the end decided on the Christian faith.
Cool, ain’t it? There’s intellingence in the cinema still!

Reading back through it – I can see that I sound like I didn’t dig it. I liked it. I actually liked it alot. But as I worked through the movie I was like, why is this here? Just to show us one more reason why she’s even more angelic than before??

Good review, made me think about it a bit more than I originally had. Personally I liked that little twist at the end but can see what you mean.
