I loved this movie. But there’s something I can’t get yet, and you didn’t tell us about it.

At near the end of the movie, Yan became a reaper. Why did he become one? How is this supposed to affect his physical body? Also, when Viktor and Fly woke up the medical assistant and the rest of the team rushed to Yan’s bed to probably save his life. Was this because Yan became a reaper?
