Sorry for the over-done-ness. Call it the curse of an ADHD english major. Maybe I was trying to earn my keep a little bit too (as one of the many appreciative, loyal readers). Allow me to butcher-quote a little Silicon Valley - your posts truly 'make the world a better place' (or at least, my world). To put my money where my mouth is.... tomorrow (my day off), I'm marathoning Centrigrade AND Mortal. Yes, a two-fer. Thanks for both!

Kindest, most over done comment ever. But thanks anyway Chris! And yeah, the father's accent was super thick. Heck, the French woman's was too. But it really reminded me of my time abroad, and how you just have to work with what you've got. From a realism standpoint, maybe? But from a movie standpoint, no, not so much. Wasn't there a recent movie that was half danish half English?? What was that movie? Oh Mortal! That's right. Don't think that was Danish. Anyway... you get my point, a lot of European movies will do the two language thing. But that isn't what was happening here. It was English - and thick accents. But thanks for your kind thoughts Chris. Glad you were able to glean just a little bit more from the movies by my making a bunch of stuff up about them! hahaha.

Yes! Nice breakdown. Honestly, you found a message inside this VERY indie movie that hadn't even registered with me. I'll be honest, a few days after I submitted this on the MAMS, I wanted to CTRL-Z it. My favorite moments of the movie were pretty much the first 5-6 minutes. I loved the machine's shape, the whiteboard chock full of formulae, that VFX 'ripple' effect of the machine (by the way, the poster's machine is not the machine in this movie!!!). I loved the that bifurcated look of the son after being pushed into the machine by Pop. Those things to me were cool. But oh, yeah, there was a lot of NOT COOL: Messy intercuts, sound recording of the dialogue dropped in and out to the point of me yelling at my TV a few times. It made comprehension of words a challenge. There were at least 3 times when the sync up of the lips to the audio were off. Gadzooks! Whoever this movie's BEN BURTT was, s/he needs a gentle slap across the face. But for me, the "GIGANTE ELEPHANTE" in the room..... was Dad's full on Italian-English accent. Way too much, & distracting. I struggled a lot just trying to understand the words Dad was saying. I'm talking THICK! Plus, seems my subtitles showed me things that Dad couldn't have been saying. I guess I get why it was like this (Italian speaking director, filming in Italy, yet deciding on English language to widen appeal and audience). But it felt rough to me. Acting in general? Not atrocious, but not great. If anything, Dad (and his damn accent) was doing some of the best acting. So yeah, in retrospect, I thought I'd submitted another "SHIFTER". But, then I reminded myself of something.. Taylor's many breakdowns (of films both popular and NOT popular) have installed a new discipline in me, one I totally lacked in my earlier years. Even just a few years back, there's no way I would have stayed with films like SHIFTER, TIME LOOP, LAKE ARTIFACT, PERFECT, TIME TRAP, PROSPECT (just a tiny few!). But, Taylor's posts on these films work on me like a set of directions... They provide a path... a path to riches and rewards! Well, not literally, but close! And he did it with this film, in reminding me of the underlying drama between father and son, which resounds for me. It was still a cool time travel movie. Sometimes, there's gold in them thar sleeper movies! Thanks, Taylor!
