I just loved Jolene. We should all hope to have a friend like her in our lives!

This is such a great show about relationships and redemption. I never would have watched it had it not been bounced around in our discussions over at the Discord server but I’m so glad I did. It could have really been about anything but I found the fact it was about the mind game of chess made it all the better. I felt all the feels while watching it. Especially the last episode. Netflix has been hitting it out of the park lately!

Yes, one word to describe this series is ‘Glorious’. I think my emotions went through so many roller coaster rides on this one. A girl who is abandoned by her mother in the worst possible way. Finding allies in a place of hopelessness, building a family on the premise of an initial lie, finding success through the codependency of addiction, hitting the bottom of the bottle. Reconciling and dealing with her mother’s death, and mental illness. Couple that with the realization of the support from loved ones. My favorite scene is when Jolene gives Beth then rest of the money she needs to get to the Russian Chess competition. Beth calls Jolene her guardian angel, and Jolene sets her straight. She tells her that for a time they needed each other and that’s family. Family steps up and helps you when you need it. Man the tears came, but they were good, hopeful tears. Netflix is knocking it out of the box! Come on Taylor, this one was easy to recommend. We need to make you work harder....

Yes, I graduated from college, I just don’t like complete sentences. Blame it on my MIL. She’s a retired English teacher. My hope is every time I write a run on, incomplete sentence, or misspell a word, her eyeball twitches. Yeah, Deep Eddy vodka has got me given jokes...
