It seems to me taking young Seo-yeun captive would change old Seo-Yeun. As in, she might not even be around to answer the phone at the beginning, and at any rate may not be inclined to go down that same path and save young-soon’s life. Young-soon takes a huge risk there. It could have ended with her disappearing, having died years before after all, and nothing having changed in the end. A better ending, imo, than the one we got.
