Facebook becomes a haven for confirmation bias depending on who you interact with and what groups you join. There are flat earth groups, q anon groups, groups for every conspiracy theory out there that will just surround you with people that think exactly like you. And don’t even get me started on the advertising. My mom is forever clicking links and showing me spam on her page she thinks is real. Don’t get me wrong, I still use it but not nearly as much as I once did. I have my garden group and a few other specific interest groups I interact with and I try very hard to ignore most of the nonsense. But I know it’s impressionable and so many are addicted. Even myself. I talked on Discord about media bias and the chart that exists to check if your source is in the middle or left or right. I always check at least 4 sources before I post something with half of those sources being from the opposite view of mine. I think it’s an important step to truly form an opinion on something and not get caught in an echo chamber.
