ok i watched don't tell a soul and spoilers lie ahead:

THE BROTHER
IS NOT ALLOWED
TO BE REDEEMED
IN THE END

that's really all i have to say about it lol. i loved this movie- one of my favorite movie plots is "do we risk getting in trouble to save this person or do we let them die?" (the answer has been obvious to me since the first time i saw it posited) so i was immediately on board when i saw this movie was coming out

the twists were fun and the actor who plays the older brother was VERY GOOD at playing a sociopath (too good?) but the very absolute last scene where they are a happy family again is bullshit lol no one changes that quickly. like in the movie friday night lights. you can't beat your kid the entire movie and then at the end you're proud of him and you both act like the abuse never happened???? #neverforget

otherwise i enjoyed how it all played out, very frustrating to watch but in a good way because the acting was so good even if i hated the characters!

The actors were trying way too hard and yes, it came off as very amateur. Plus the story itself was kind of goofy. They can’t all be winners!

Lisa, I agree. This one just ends up looking (and is acted) amateurish. I personally have some kind of internal minimum requirement for the overall 'look and feel' for a film. And the film ABSOLUTELY cannot look like my old VHS home videos I filmed from the 90's! There are so many films coming out now (most going direct to Amazon prime) done by indie filmmakers, and their solution to NOT having adequate camera equipment, is to go with either a FOUND FOOTAGE, MOCKUMENTARY, format. Yeah, you choose those formats.... and you can make a film simply on your iPhone or computer. I had hopes for this, but it's too... too cheap looking. And it's choppy, and meh to the acting also. I will say.... you never know.... even when a film is done on the super cheap, IF the acting and directing is MINDBLOWING, there's a chance it can stand out and shine. But not here. Hard pass. Oh well! Strike one (of many, I promise). ;)
