Thanks Aaron...
awesome comment. I got Michael covered. But do appreciate your support of our Missional outpost! hahaha.

Really cool comment - evocative imagery. I read it twice. I'm sure you'll be able to help with legal fund after the FBI vans arrive at my door for disseminating pirated contraband. (I'm assuming that you all own an inferior European version... and I'm just giving you another permutation of the media you already own! haha.)

Thanks again Aaron.

I just watched “this miraculous recreation” again and wanted to express real gratitude to you for keeping this smoldering ember glowing for those of us to whom it matters [to] (lol) 36 years have elapsed since its release. From 16 when I felt like I must be from space (not literally from space) for how well I related to my peers… to today at 52 when its themes…
pursuit of our life’s passions, lifelong friendships, mortality, acceptance, legacy… these resonate in fresh and unexpected ways… this movie has been like a talisman. Its meditative contours functioning as both a lens for introspection and an artifact for nostalgic reverie. Having this experience without the overlay of Plinko machines and mouth harps that Mssr. Serra provided as afterthought is a real gift. (I read somewhere that Eric Serra didn’t even like this movie when he first saw it (source?) which makes sense but it’s no reason to punish it with bad music.) One of the underwater scenes, I was reminded tonight, was instrumental in providing one of the only truly spiritual experiences I’ve had. I was not blessed with the gift of faith so this rare experience stands out. Through the diligent application of charm and no achievement of my own, I found myself bobbing ineffectually in light chop near a yacht larger than my current home in the waters of Sardinia near Cala di Volpe. I remembered Sardinia’s role in the film and stopped obsessing about myself for a half second and looked out across the sea. The cinematography of that moment was spectacular. The sun glinting on the textured blanket of water, a cloud allowing the sun to acrobat on a slant to a verdant knuckle of land. I closed my eyes and took a stretch of breath and gently started descending with as much poise as I could manage. At some point, I opened my eyes. And I could see! Any other time I’d done this it was all salty margarita eyedrops and pain. But I could see. I made it to the “bottom” which was “only” about 10m (confirmed later by the boat’s instruments) I paused and looked around… I could see the surface like cello and it seemed so remote and that slant of sunlight still doing its thing. It was not really quiet. Somewhere a seadoo was doo-ing and I could hear that distantly. But I could also hear my heart beat. I panicked and started kicking mad to get up for air. I had this moment when I could hear music (oddly I think it was the pan flute that accompanies Ms. Arquette in the Andes) and I had only an overwhelming sense of peace, being held and cared for by God, Goddess, All That Is. I realize that I might also have been borderline blacking out from hypoxia and it was a right stupid thing to do in the sea, novice, essentially alone. But here we are all these years later able to have a larf about it. I’ll never forget that feeling, never repeated when not hallucinating with an entheogen, but sought with them for that purpose. So in a way, you are doing God’s work. He told me so. (not literally.) anything I can do to help, happy to, I can dust-off a torrent needs be.

I, too, am someone who has loved the US version of this movie since childhood. Pretty much every reference to this film trashes the US version and, inexplicably, the Bill Conti score. Seeing that I am not alone in my dislike for the European release and Eric Serra's score is somewhat gratifying.

Is there still a way to obtain the referenced US version?
