I agree with Ruby. I think Dennis and Rita were ghosts. That is why the mediums left the house without uttering a word to them. I am still a but fuzzy around Chance’s death, though.

I just watched this movie. I had a hard time following it too. Thanks for clearing a lot of it up. I kinda understand it now. Like the statement says above, what’s with the suitcase? Rita called the number. Why did they give her such a hard time?

I watched The Wind, not bad of a movie.

I think Dennis and Rita were the ghosts. Dennis kept seeing an image of a guy with an ax, and Chance didn’t seem to see them when was trying to get in the bathroom. Like they were re-watching past events. Kind of like how The Others was a reverse ghost story. Ghost don’t experience time like the living. Maybe when Chance went back he really killed them not just taped them up, but once they decided to accept their fate/house/ghost lives they stopped the loop …then you see Kate wander into the house because now she’s stuck too.

I agree, the suitcase part was strange. Why open one, but not the other, make a deal about it, and never explain? The renters didn’t seem to know each other well..almost like they had met and had a relationship online? If so, how would The grandmother know or have contact with him? The dreams part didn’t ever seem to be explained. Just another odd thing? Weird layer upon weird layer. I love horror movies without gore, but this one was choppy, disjointed, and not one I would recommend. STRANGE…and not in a good way.

What was in the locked suitcase? The guy on the phone told Rita to just get rid of it like it was something bad. Any ideas or did I miss something?

Thanks for this, I was pretty puzzled. I do think that weird interlude scene of them cleaning the house and things being normal was actually from the very very beginning, before the camping trip, or the renters, etc. I thought it went, buy cheap house, find out it’s haunted, decide to rent it out, house terrorizes renters, then they decide to adopt. In so many words.

I just watched this film and came to the exact same conclusion. Seems the owners were used to the antics but wanted to try and get away and then decided that nope, they are not going to let a haunted house ruin everything for them and then they stumble into the mess of the renters. It’s definitely a bizarre one but not so hard to piece together if you really pay attention. Obviously the non linear aspect helps add some confusion. It sort of ties in with the book she is writing about the monster as well. Good job to whomever put this one on our radar as it’s definitely an original!
