Great recommendation Taylor. It was very interesting at the beginning of the movie with people us to coming out of a house carrying things, old people young people. Later when you find out that people in the neighborhood knew what happened to the people in the house, it’s just wrong. They were openly taking things that did not belong to them. I thought that Claudio , in the very beginning was a an example of typical Bourgeois class that values what they have more than the whole of the country. We see it in his wife, his friends, his community. Yes, in the beginning the scene of the young man Dieguito is confusing because he seems crazy, radical and rude. I’m still trying to figure him out and what he represents as a whole. So yeah, this story is the mindset of someone who values what they have and would rather turn a blind eye to government corruption rather than face it at the cost of losing what he has. Also, curious that private detective that is hired by his friends ( Dieguito’s sister, small world?) is from Chile. That can not be a coincidence, especially with the political unrest and similar barbaric treatment of dissidents at the same time. I could watch this movie three more times and still get more insight. It’s definitely hard, because as a whole how many people would give up what they have, home, family, comfort to stand up for what’s right. It’s gotta be the young, because the old are jaded with too much to lose.
