@LISA I know! I said I enjoyed too the two hours brainless entertainment (god knows how much wee need it alla over the world...), but still... THIS IS THINC!
This is where we dissect logic, structure and meaning of every single scene in every single movie we (potentially) love.

So, please... Let me be HYPERCRITIC here. It's fun! It's fun, because here there are only smart and polite people discussing something they love. Intelligent debate is always constructive and useful to grow together!

I don’t think this film was as bad as you are making it out to be. As far as summer action movies go, this one wasn’t bad. And I think Taylor brought it up here to talk about the controversy surrounding the film.

Dunno why you've been so permissive with this one, but let me say why i think is a very, very, VERY bad movie for THiNC standards at least.

1 - Pratt says he will be back to save her, before she died. That didn't make any sense for time travel logics and the mission they were attempting (Lincoln Timeline).
But... How cool it would have been if they played with the car accident and Pratt spent the rest of his life trying to go back to the future and that's why he ruined his relationship with "past" family and actually time traveled instead of dying and that accident was just the "official" explanation.
Movie would turn back as a deterministic one and the story, when back to the future, would have been super cool (obviously, daughter still alive needed, no death in the plant/lab. Even cooler if we think she died but father still goes back to future)

2 - The serum. All the plot revolves around the production of this item. Totally useless, aliens 90% of the time die easely EXPLODING with traditional weapons. Even in the spaceship at the end. They could have killed the "mother bee" without it but she says "can't waste this only dose". NONSENSE.

3 - Never explained why time travel works without a terminal in the past, but when the base explodes in the future no more travel allowed (yeh, I can accept it as a fictional science random basic idea, but... still, it sucks)

Those are just the THiNC related issues, but how many others in terms of strict storytelling we could point out... LAZY SCRIPTING, convenience, after convenience, after convenience: all father character as it is, as you pointed out the chat with wife, all the government behaviour, the volcano kid.

Come on Taylor. I have watched it too, I enjoyed it too as a F&F movielike. I know you had fun watching it at the family party, but... here is HERE!

I guess because people feel like they wasted 45 minutes watching something that winds up never happening when they eradicate the beasts in Russia. I honestly didn’t even think about that when I watched it. It’s a good family movie night popcorn flick with tons of carnage and people should stop getting their panties in a bunch.

The guns look like P90s but were actually AR-15s with Hera Arms foregrips and buttstocks (which were deliberately based on the look of the P90).

Um. Yes, it literally negates the first 90 minutes of the film. That is correct. Which is how they win the war, but not having it.

No? I'm confused as to why that would be bad.

I guess I get what people are saying which is that the ending negates the whole first 45 minutes of the film but I don’t think they intended for this to be a big thinker of a film so people should probably just enjoy it for what it is. If Chris Nolan had directed this then this post would be a lot longer trying to untangle all the timelines and he probably would have tried to solve the issue everyone is complaining about but this is just a summer action flick with some time travel involved.
