Misandry? I don’t think this means what you think this means, lol… especially because it’s clear the mother and daughter adore the crazy dad. I saw a human dynamic playing out once the dad was killed and Jerry reclaims his birthright—with a complexity which is honest to human dynamics, even if lacking in emotional IQ. One would argue that emotional IQ is a luxury when survival is the order of the day, however I might counter that underdeveloped emotional IQ brought every single player in this dynamic to horrible demise; you see, the amygdala will highjack the frontal cortex when it’s stuck in the fight or flight lane every time. When one lives in that lane it’s butting in to the frontal cortex all day, every day. No misandry here. Just survival and overactive neural pathways high on cortisol.

[I just watched this movie— and found this blog bc I needed some answers! I didn’t find any but it’s clear that I’m not alone in my search. Maybe it was a good movie after all, it clearly stimulated discussion and made people think…and it certainly made us feel different things, all indications of an interesting story.

I don’t think any of you get this movie really. The setting, aside from its unusual location, depicts what most of human existence has been like for the ten thousand years since we stopped being nomads and became tied to the land. Under such circumstances, invasion - whether by neighbouring city-states or barbarians from the hills or raiders arriving in longships - was an ever present danger and violent, premature death was common for the menfolk. For the women, their survival and that of their children largely depended on how fast they could switch gears, bury their losses and accommodate the victors.

So - and especially given Jerry’s placatory stance and the fact that Ilsa had slaughtered his wife with her own hands - there was no shortage of precedent to guide her into Jerry’s bed. It was fair, expected and necessary. They all needed each other in order to survive.

I understand why she felt motivated to kill him, but it was still an utterly stupid thing to do.

And the same arguments apply to Remmy when she grew up. Although she had nowhere else to go she made the same mistake as her mother, killing her only friend and protector. He never tried to rape her despite the unimpeded opportunity to do so, but only wanted to persuade her. He only tied her up to stop her running away because if she did he knew she would die. She immediately became violent and killed home at the first opportunity.

And now she faces a brief lifetime of solitary confinement, until her oxygen or water runs out. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Obviously the audience is not supposed to know if these are the very last humans alive, or one of a few scattered hundreds or whatever. But it’s clearly a distinct possibility, and if most who yet live behave like this then the species is finished.

Get over your infantile misandry.

You guys can debate till the cows come home. At the end of the day, this was a "woke" movie to convey that women don't need men to survive. And in order to prove that, Feminism has to prove that the situation that men have put women in is so traumatizing, that women must rebel and fight every "construct" created by men in order to be free as women. However every construct created by men has to be made to be seen as evil and misogynist, while women get to play victim and heroin at the same time.

The irony of this movie is that the duality of modern Feminism plays out in this movie. Jerry restored the whole settlement and Provided Remy and her mom a comfortable life. Even though he knew they hated him. He basically gave them water to drink, swim, and take showers in along with other comforts. As modern feminists hate men and see them as the issue to everything, but live comfortably and use everything men built. The same with this movie. It was the mom who wanted to kill him, because Hollywood, would have never let a modern woman fall into that "misogynist" trap of to the victor goes the spoils. What woman needs a man that bad? Even in the harsh wilderness of an alien planet where the population is 3. Lol. As far as Remmy and Jerry, I knew the writers were going to make him rapey are put that grey area in there to prove that even the most patient, well-meaning man is no more than a creepy rapist in the end. And So this movie also proves how modern feminism is leading these women out of their so-called "Mysaginist" bubble into a wilderness that they have no idea how to navigate, and the movie ends on that note. Lol...Smh.

Totally disagree. Low budget goodness, plot holes or not. Had a good time with this one.

Utter Garbage with plot holes all over as mentioned by many…chickens lol.
1) So, Jerry is a Martian (came back home), also notice he did not age a day in 10 years as Remy grew
2) Remy left the tunnel to nothing. Jerry was correct, he was the last Martian left now and wanted to keep his lineage alive
3) Also remember Jerry said he came back frlm a war, war with Earth? Is this why his parents wanted to kick Remy’s parents out? Because Martian’s were at war with Earthlings? Most likely
5) I just really want my 2 hours back after watching this trashcan of a movie.

I like answers. Why did Jerry's father want to kick out Ilsa and Reza when he found out they were from earth? Did Jerry and his friends try to talk to the parents first? Like "I know how to make this place productive, lets work together" The place was after all Jerry's homestead. It just seemed like a bunch of senseless killing to me. And where did they get all the pigs? How did the chickens just appear? Did they have cloning technology? And that ending! Really!?!?

'the problem for me is only that she left the pigs in their enclosure. What a dumb cruel person. I’m a woman, by the way, and an experienced one at that.'

Remmy repaired Steve the robot in order to take care of the homestead (and thus the pigs) whilst she was away.
