And because 3 is the charm, I had just one more thought. Since we never actually see Owen in this film (he’s dead and gone and we just see the evil spirit or demon) perhaps we can say there’s a glimmer of hope here. Owen went somewhere else after he died. He’s not stuck in that between nothingness. He didn’t kill those women because he’s a stone cold murderer. He was trying to battle something evil. So maybe there can be something better after death. And maybe Beth can now reach that place after she dies and not get stuck in between since she makes the choice to listen to her friend and live. If you think of it this way it makes the ending even better. Oh, how I would love to talk to whomever wrote this film! I thought about it for days after. I watch a ton of film and tv and most are forgotten right after but this one really sat with me.

And of course I have more to say. I’m thinking he specifically chose this location to build the house for her in an out of the way area (license plates in the film said NY so I’d love to know the film locations) where he knew there would be land to build the reverse house to try and confuse the demon. Remember in the beginning she finds the architectural drawings and just doesn’t know what to make of it. She winds up putting it aside but it’s an important moment in the film where we kind of get a glimpse of what is really going on here. So I think it was the plan all along since she had the near death experience. He was desperately trying to help her any way he could by using the weird books to plan this all out and confuse or appease the demon trying to come for her. The “Nothing” as it’s called in the film. I think it’s the note he leaves that sets her off on this investigation as it says “there’s nothing.” She knows what that means but it went against his thinking accordingly to conversations they previously had. I was truly fascinated by this film and all I could think was that I wanted you to watch it. So I’m glad you did and that you enjoyed it.

I already left a lengthy comment on your Patreon video but were you not super uncomfortable when she tells the mother about how she doesn’t quite remember which student her son is because her husband just blew his brains out? That was some of the best acting I’ve ever seen right there. It made me feel like I was in the room with them!
