I wanted to see this film. Started it and well, fell asleep. Pretty early on. So I will need to watch again. The film did start slow.....but I will try again. As I get older I find myself grateful for my life. It does go by fast, once you hit the fifties in age. So thankful to be alive.

I absolutely adored this film and I don’t care if the logistics of choosing one by one do not make any sense. I kind of saw the ending coming from a mile away for various reasons. First being himself. Emma was very emotional and attuned to everyone and everything around her. He felt she could possibly end up like him and get hurt in a cruel world whereas Kane would stand up for himself and clearly not take any BS. So it was about the likelihood of survival. Plus he was still reeling from the loss of the prodigy he picked and he was quite obsessed with trying to figure out what happened and why he didn’t see her death coming. Only when he got the perspective of someone that knew her could he see the whole picture. So I think he went in the opposite direction due to this. Kane was a safe bet and he knew he wouldn’t have to worry too much about him. So did he make the wrong choice? Who can really say? Would he have made a different choice if his prodigy didn’t commit suicide? It’s possible but who knows? He still may have thought Emma too much like himself. She really affected him. This film made me feel all the feels. Yes, it’s slow and probably not for everyone but if you are the type of person who can think outside the box and appreciate the beauty of something that doesn’t quite make sense, I think you’ll enjoy this film.

Btw, I absolutely adored how he created a memory for everyone who didn’t make the cut. If those scenes don’t hit you right in the heart then you have a heart made of stone.
