I’d be wary of anyone who said they actually liked this film. Yes, it deserves to be talked about but as for liking it? Nope. Here’s the rub-would we even be talking about it at all if it wasn’t a 10 year old actress under that CGI and face mask? Maybe, but also maybe not. I do get what the director was trying to show us here but I’m still not quite sure if it was truly necessary. For the owners of this android, they were doomed to repeat the same mistakes of the past. Papa with his daughter and the elderly woman with her brother. I do think you are correct in saying had this film been made by a man, the director would have attained some kind of Roman Polanski status. I’m betting this director knew that and also banked on it not happening to her. Sure there has been controversy but nothing like if she had been male.
