You know, I’m not really sure what this film was about but I do not think it was about memory. While watching it I came up with all sorts of theories but none of them seemed quite right and after it ended I was ok with not really knowing what it was truly about. What is factual is that we learn way more about the teens in this film than we do Alina. Even when she supposedly has her memory she keeps her personal facts close to the vest instead prompting the person she’s taking to to respond more about themselves. Which I found interesting. I also noticed there were random wardrobe changes throughout the film even though it was supposed to be taking place on the same day. That obviously means something but I’m not sure exactly what it is. It definitely seems like there is something going on with Alina that she wants to cover up. I feel this is the case because she is unwilling to reconnect with Simon who she had an intense connection with previously. I also found it interesting that she told the teens she was writing a novel only after she was recognized on thr street and found her own book in the library. She then seemed to use her status as an author to cover up giving any more real personal details about herself. Even when she’s recognized at the recording studio she doesn’t give any details about herself except the most superficial. So what is Alina hiding and what is she afraid her husband will think? We never really find out but that’s ok. I absolutely adored the teens in this film. They all gave very heartfelt performances. This film reminded me more of Starfish than the other ones you mentioned because Starfish was also a film that could have had a million and one interpretations.

I watched this because of the comment I saw on another post here the other day. I’m sorry I forgot the name of the person who recommended this film but thank you, anyway! Taylor, you should give that person a shout out for finding the new king!
