taylor! i meant the 1988 dutch thriller the vanishing! the rotten tomatoes critic consensus: "a clinical, maddening descent into the mind of a serial killer and a slowly unraveling hero, culminating with one of the scariest endings of all time." a must watch!!!

Oh I forgot to talk about SYNECDOCHE! The first time I saw this film I think I caught it on TV about halfway through and literally had no idea what was happening but it’s actually quite genius when I finally watched it from beginning to end. It’s not the film Kaufman is most known for as that honor probably goes to Eternal Sunshine but it definitely is a must see as far as wild films go. Philip Seymour Hoffman puts just a top notch performance in this crazy little film. All of Kaufman’s films or at least most of them deserve to be on this list. It took a while after I saw it for Being John Malkovich to really tickle my funny bone but now every time I think of it I can’t get “Malkovich Malkovich Malkovich” out of my head. He definitely makes films that need a lot of unpacking after.

I love that this list has all definitions of wild in regard to the movies included. I also love that I had a hand in creating it, of course! How can you not love Swiss Army Man? It should be one of those cult classic films! You haven’t seen The House That Jack Built? Fair warning, I think many people walked out of it for some of the imagery but it definitely is wild! Every time I talk about A Serbian Film I strongly recommend people do NOT watch it but I think some take it as a dare. It’s wild for sure but not in any good kind of way! Gummo is just so bizarre I could never figure out exactly what to make of it and it’s one of those films that has such a loose plot that it wouldn’t even matter if you watched it backwards, forwards or sideways. It reminds me a bit of that really old film “Freaks.”I’ve not seen some of these so I’ll have to check them out!
