Setting aside the "They're just messing with people", because how can you prove that one way or the other, there is definitely a connection, as given by Moorehead on twitter. https://twitter.com/JustinHBenson/status/1609266501651136513?s=20 My personal view is similar to your #1, this is part of the entity, and while it may not be a loop, it's certainly part of the mythos.

You made the comment on how in their previous films they were “trapped” in some way. Now I don’t think I’ve seen any of their other films. Also saw somewhere about it being filmed during the pandemic when everybody was quarantined/trapped while ppl practically put each other down for wearing or not wearing a mask while we all attempt to cope with the situation and the information/disinformation given to us on the topic as well as all kinds of other stuff that was circulating. If there’s a cage in this one I feel like maybe it’s referring to the trap that we all feel apart of from time to time. Struggling to or not to fall down rabbit holes/pick apart the chaos happening around us within the world even when maybe one doesn’t even exist.. The conspiracy theories, those that are true/false.. Building our own cages with the information that’s now at our fingertips searching for answers that aren’t available like picking up breadcrumbs leading where.. To more questions?.. Whether we come to a conclusion is irrelevant as we’ll likely never really have the answers WE want or seek. We’re curious to our core, something exploited at every corner you turn. He said something along the lines of there’s power in the things we can’t see and that he couldn’t find any evidence of the Pythagorean brotherhood being active in centuries. That’s the point of a secret society. Everything happens in secret. Kind of like electricity, you can’t see it but we all know it has power. Saying all that while lighting ANOTHER cigarette and smoking something that’s killing him?.. Captivated in his own ignorance?.. I don’t think there was a scene that they weren’t having a smoke which is how their entire relationship sparked, bumming a smoke.. There were several other things that I feel really stuck out (intentionally) that are slowly slipping away while I’m digging this hole such as different things they said during conversations before being interrupted/dismissed by the relevance of the next new thing that came to mind/phenomenon that was happening. So does it really matter anyways lol. Always rushing to the next as everything’s constantly shifting and changing. Just some stuff that came to mind as the movie was ending. Maybe implying we should just be the best we can be like you said, friends being friends. Brothers caring about brothers. That we should just be focused on being good to each other like you mentioned towards the end? Or maybe that’s exactly what they want us to think

“SPOOooOOooOOooKKeeYYyyy” lmao I found the movie pretty interesting but who knows. Does anybody?

Right but it’s what should be talked about because the whole thing is just meta. It’s no longer fresh in my mind but think about it this way. This movie is about Benson and Moorhead. It’s about their thought process as they come up with ideas for movies. It’s also telling us as the audience that none of it is real. It’s just 2 guys who may or may not be totally stoned bouncing crazy ideas back and forth. It’s about their fans getting pissed off that they went Hollywood with Synchronic and they are showing us that we are just a bunch of crazy fans trying to make connections where there really aren’t any. You know clearly by the end of this film that none of it is real. Two guys meet in the Hollywood area (filmed in one of their real apartments no less!) and they smoke up a lot and think about how they can cash in. They come up with an idea about this so called documentary where strange events happen in the apartment but then they keep hiring people to redo the effects over and over so it just becomes one big meta thing. No one is hurt. No one dies. None of it is real. They are asking us to be let off the hook and to stop trying to connect things in all of their films because really, it’s just a bunch of crazy ideas they thought up. I know I explained this a lot better on Discord when the film was still fresh in my mind but this is the gist of it.

It’s a combination of 4 and 5. Please go and read the Discord conversation Chris and I had about this film. I just can’t bring myself to rewrite it all again here. But they are having a laugh. It’s about friendships and also about fanatic fans looking for Easter Eggs and conspiracies in all of their films. I 100 percent believe they do things like give people the same last name in multiple films just to watch people go crazy trying to connect the dots. I actually loved this film and had a good laugh at myself for falling into the trap.
