I loved this film despite Pete Davidson. He didn’t annoy me as much as he usually does in films although I would have left him a bag of coal instead of a new car.

I loved the soundtrack as well. Especially ending with Seven Nation Army.

But think about it- this is not really a feel good movie. Ultimately some folks made some money and took a few shots at Wall Street but even after the so called investigation nothing really changed. There are still the same kinds of hedge funds killing companies this way. No one was charged and the investigation ultimately went nowhere. One billionaire went under with plenty more to take his place. The money made by the investors was pocket change to the hedge fund billionaires. The Robin Hood guys are no longer billionaires on paper but they are hardly suffering for what they did. The transactions weren’t really free as they advertised and they hid the fact they were processed through Citadel.

I love films about the little guys taking on Goliath but the question that still lingers with me after all of this is why Game Stop? By all accounts it really was a failing company from a bygone era. Much like if he decided he wanted to prop up Blockbuster. My son downloads everything and I can’t remember the last time I bought a game in a box. I feel like he just felt a personal connection to this particular store which was his reasoning. I’m no whiz at the stock market by any means as I don’t have any dumb money to give it but it still didn’t make much sense to me to prop up this particular stock just for sentimental reasons.

Yet still I enjoyed the fact that it threw Wall Street into a tailspin for a period of time!
