Yeah, I have no idea what that means! Sometimes it stays logged in and sometimes it doesn’t. No biggie.

This film reminded me a lot of Columbus because of its wholesomeness. A great film with great dialogue without any real sex, cursing or violence. Just about people and how they connect to one another in this big bad world and also how those connections can fail, especially over a long distance. Sometimes a film like this is necessary- at least for me. I could relate to it having had a very long distance relationship that did not work out. Me being in NY and him being in Europe. I can’t really pinpoint one real reason why it failed but I know that it was hard to keep up due to that distance. Nora’s frustration about it brought back real feelings for me and I understood why she cut it off even though it hurt.

I would definitely recommend this film to anyone who enjoys good films without all the fillers.

(it doesn't log you in on both wp-admin side and also the site itself @lisa... the old patreon would keep you logged in though...) These are fantastic points Lisa... definitely see so much in her acting in the pauses. Her role here was absolutely amazing.

For some reason I’m having issues with my Wordpress login. I login but it doesn’t stay logged in when I come over to the site-

Anyway-

I just watched the beginning of this film again before leaving this comment because I think it’s important and I didn’t understand it before finishing this film. Obviously other restaurant patrons are watching this trio and trying to determine their relationship to one another. Their in-yun, if you will. You mentioned the beginning but not this part of it but this beginning completes the circle of the film.

There is so much great dialogue in this film. I found it to be genius. The conversation that Nora and Arthur have in bed after she meets her lost love is especially meaningful. It’s clear to me he loves her with every fiber of his being but I get from her pauses and contemplating before answering that she loves him too but almost acknowledges this could have gone a different way. She mentions she is with him in this life. Again, important dialogue about connection. She needed a green card and they were together so they rushed into this married life.

I get the feeling that Hae-Sung on the other hand always thought that no matter what they would end up together. When he’s got his act together he comes to NY to get her. It obviously doesn’t work out this way and he’s too good of a person to even really try after meeting Arthur and seeing what they have together. He seems genuinely happy for her while also being broken hearted.

But alas, all is not lost because it’s very possible their in-yun will bring them together once again in a next life and I think he takes some solace in that as he leaves. Broken hearted but still having that inkling of hope that some way, some how this does work out for him. Just not now.

Just a beautiful film all around.
