This film was so great for me because I literally knew nothing about it when I put it on. I was like, is this a drama? A thriller? Who knows. I thought for sure somehow she would snap and kill the father eventually. But then you realize what it’s really about and although it seems to come out of left field, it really doesn’t. Eileen is shown multiple times staring out the window at Lee so it makes sense he would become a part of her fantasy world. We see her fantasy encounter with the guard. So we know all along she is not reliable in any way. So I’m still going with Rebecca not being real and that Eileen finally snaps and shoots somebody. She could have very well been thinking of her abusive father all along. The way she disposes of the body doesn’t really make too much sense but it’s not like we are dealing with a stable person so I’ll let it pass. Although I kind of like the theory of it all being a fantasy as well. I actually borrowed the book and will see if it brings me to the same conclusions.

Interesting story how the book came to be, btw
