I can’t believe I forgot to comment on this one. It’s a horrifying movie and virtually nothing happens in it which makes it quite unique in this way. The fact that everyone is going around living their mundane lives with the cremation going on non stop in the background and bullets being constantly shot over the wall in the background really sends it home. The wife constantly talking about how her social status improved is sickening! I still cannot fathom how so many justified this as ok. I never will. What else can I say? It will leave you reeling and stick with you long afterwards.

Great comment. This movie was so next level that I didn't even know where to start. Your call outs were fantastic. The color inversions are really the most obvious things to talk about... as they are the most morally clear. But it's the comments from the queen... "are you wanting to humiliate me by putting out breakfast for two?" that really peal back the lunacy of these people. So many movies have come and gone since I watched this one - but this one has remained in my mind. It has really tormented me. Tormented in relation to WWII... but also the implications for today. Israel - Gaza - Palestine - Kyiv and Ukraine - your local town and our attempt at other'ing individuals out of the world of our normal. Just such an important movie. Thanks for the comment @bozgun.

Great review!

The fact that the movie opened up with viewers seeing only the black screen for almost three straight mins before the sunny lake scene was amazing.. this is the sum of all in my opinion. We as human beings just stare the evil for a few mins with disturbed minds and then turn our heads to distractions.. doing nothing.

I loved the Hansel and Gretel story. Shows how human mind can do anything to alter the reality. How a bad can be good and good can be bad if there are no moral codes but only rules of id “das Es”.

Even if there are no violent scenes throughout the movie, you start asking yourself that how disgusting a human being can be when you see labor prisoners are ordered to put the ashes of humans on the soil of the trees, plants etc.. unbelievable how people can normalize such extreme situations. or in such a claustrophobic environment how the queen (!) of the Auschwitz can sleep without any discomfort while the children, particularly the younger daughter, have some kind of insomnia.. even though she has no participation, will, or any capacity to do anything, she has subconscious guilt.. how the mom never gets worried about the crying of her own baby.. how they stare the smoke and never have been bothered.. the loss of empathy, love, and all..
