What i wondered all the way through the movie is, why David and Will looked so much alike. I thought there were brothers and the affair they mentioned on Netflix was about that but I realized in the movie that David and Will had nothing to do wirth each other. Although they are split of image of each other. Just will is with long hair and David with short hair. Why no one mentioned this in the script or in reviews of the movie? Am I the only one seen them look so much alike? And if they are not brothers (which now we know they are not) then what is the affair that Netflix is talking about on their movie information bit? By the way I love the twists in the movie that makes you keep guessing till the lady 30 minutes. The thing is movie ends and you find yourself still guessing and asking yourself questions about the movie. So many of them. Lol

You could ask one of the writers on twitter: @phillycarly - I'd ask him, but I have some questions out to him on his new movie Destroyer, and I definitely don't want to overstay my welcome. But hey, let us know if he gives you an answer. It's an interesting question. Wish I'd thought of it when I originally talked with him about the film.

Loved the movie. My own experience with new age groups 20 years ago prompts me to ask if the writers had any personal experience with cult-like groups? Years ago, I was involved in a new-age personal growth group called Lifespring (like Landmark Forum or Est). My experience began with an invitation (not formal) to attend a gathering at a friend's friend's house to discuss the group. We did a few harmless exercises (like staring into the eyes of a stranger for a full minute) to interest people in attending the Basic course (a few hundred bucks for several days). I did the Basic and additional courses but quit as the program slowly shifted emphasis from personal growth to recruitment ("how many by when?"). Such cult-like tactics of such groups are not obvious at first. The home-setting, jargon, fake-happiness, secrecy, and "what do you want" exercise used in the movie reminded me of my own experience before I took the course. Having taken such courses, I easily relate to Will suspecting something but not being sure enough to leave, not wanting to be a party-pooper, and wanting to stay out of curiosity. I can imagine how The Invitation group began as grief counseling, then promised reunification with loved-ones when death finally comes, then decided bring reunification on red-lantern style on a particular day at many homes. It seemed scary-plausible to me. How much of this fiction was based upon something real-life?

Glad you found what you were looking for. I personally knew she wasn’t making it out alive. That whole thing was just way too ominous. And I, like you, was so intrigued I went looking for the script and then the screenplay author to learn more! Hahah.

Thanks for the invitation! Sounds really fantastic. Grew up in D.C. - worked on the hill for a senator for a year even. As for under the skin, I’m still working on it. But yes it was very good.

Ohh, OK! I surmised that Claire was, indeed, killed. Especially when, at the last minute as Claire’s pulling out away from the house, Pruitt clearly says, “Oh, Claire . . . . one more thing . . . “ and heads towards her waiting car. Brilliant touch of foreshadow there without ‘spilling the beans.’ Since I watched this already aware of the ending (it was ‘spoiled’ by students), I was actively on the lookout for any intimations of what was to come. Obviously, that scene with Pruitt and Claire jangled my nerves.

Our “Professional Pub” is in our home with high end imbibements- no generics for us! It has everything a high end bar has. We call it “The Pub at Pemberley.” It is Mahogany and brass with stained glass back bar and wet bar. My husband’s little “baby” is his grand piano; Pemberley Pub is MY little “baby!” LOL. We are just outside the Washington D.C. area. Text if you and your family are nearby. It would be great to sit around the bar discussing movies! BTW, if you haven’t yet seen “Under the Skin,” I highly recommend it.
