I Am Heath Ledger New Documentary Looks Fantastic
One of my top five comedies of all time is a movie you’d be hard pressed to even guess at. Especially for a guy like me that has strange tastes in movies. Movies like Monty Python’s Holy Grail, Ferris Bueller’s, Raising Arizona… all make me giggle saying their names. But there’s another brilliant movie in the comedy space that you just wouldn’t guess:
Ten Things I Hate About You.
The teen comedy based on the Taming of the Shrew (Or Kiss Me Kate, if you prefer?) But you take the fantastic Shakespearean idea, and drop on top of it fantastic writing, clever witticisms, and fantastic acting by Julia Styles and Heath Ledger? Man. I adore that movie. It was actually the movie that helped me fall in love with Heath.
“I know you can be overwhelmed, and you can be underwhelmed, but can you just be whelmed?”
—
“What do you think of this pose?”
“Yeah, I like it, it’s pensive.”
“Oh, dang, I was going for thoughtful.”
heheheh. Such a good movie. But another fantastic, underrated movie of Heath’s was A Knight’s Tale. The music. The humor. The cute romance. The jousting premise. Such a gorgeously clever movie. Oh yeah, and that was the movie that introduced us to Paul Bettany, wasn’t it? I would guess that he was in movies before that, but holy cow he made me split a gut in that movie. “I’ll FONG you! Your entrails will be extrails and your extrails will be entrails!” But I digress.
Regardless, I have always adored Heath Ledger. His Joker just flipped the boards on my already flipped boards for the guy. But now, it would appear that we are going to get a little more Heath Ledger before we respectfully place his memory on the mantel.
Apparently this uber documentary about one of our favorites will be arriving on May 17th. Can. Not. Wait. Uh. I’ll be in Cancun then I just remembered. What a nice treat for my time in Meh-HEe-co.
