Alright, we’re picking up steam now. If you caught the last batch, you know the drill — I’m counting down the best 100 Netflix documentaries, and each batch gets better than the last. Buckle up.
Netflix Documentary #90 — Thomas Jefferson
2025 | Series | Directed by History Channel
Part of Netflix’s massive USA 250 collection celebrating America’s semiquincentennial. This six-episode History Channel series digs into the deeply complicated legacy of the third president. Author of the Declaration of Independence AND a slave owner. The series doesn’t shy away from that tension, and it’s better for it. If you’re binging the USA 250 content this summer, start here.
Netflix Documentary #89 — Washington
2020 | Series | Directed by History Channel
Jeff Daniels narrates this three-part History Channel docudrama about George Washington, and honestly, the dramatic recreations are better than they have any right to be. Nicholas Rowe plays Washington from ambitious young soldier to reluctant president. It’s part of Netflix’s USA 250 collection, and it’s one of the best entry points if you want to actually understand the man behind the monument. The battle sequences are surprisingly intense.
Netflix Documentary #88 — Worst Neighbor Ever
2026 | Series | Directed by Various
Fresh off the Netflix press — this just dropped and it’s already generating buzz. A spinoff of the Worst Roommate Ever franchise, this series digs into real cases of neighbors who went from annoying to absolutely terrifying. Fraud, harassment, explosions, murder — the escalation in each episode is genuinely shocking. Too new for RT scores, but if the Worst Roommate Ever format worked for you, this delivers.
Netflix Documentary #87 — The Investigation of Lucy Letby
2026 | Film | Directed by Benedict Sanderson
At 60% on Rotten Tomatoes with 15 critics, this is the lowest-scored doc on the list that actually HAS a score. But I included it because the case itself is one of the most disturbing in recent memory — a neonatal nurse convicted of murdering seven infants. The documentary features first-hand interviews and digs into how she got away with it for so long. It’s not easy viewing, but the story demands to be told.
Netflix Documentary #86 — Don’t F**k with Cats
2019 | Series | Directed by Mark Lewis
67% from critics but 80% from audiences — and honestly, the audience is right on this one. This became an absolute cultural phenomenon when it dropped. Internet sleuths track down a killer who posts animal abuse videos online, and what unfolds is one of the most disturbing and compelling true crime stories Netflix has ever produced. The ethical questions about internet vigilantism alone make it worth watching. A must-see, critic scores be damned.
