Episode VIII is Now In Production
Yes, I know. Not all of you are Star Wars fans. And I want to be clear… I despise you. You are anathema to me. Simply because you get back 42% of your life, your mental energy, CPU power, electricity bills spent on hunting for Star Wars news… all of it. You are awful to me. (Said in the best recovering alcoholic voice imaginable.) And for those of you who just don’t care about Star Wars a lick… this is not for you, and it won’t make any sense to you whatsoever. Watch. See…

Episode VIII is Now In Production.

For the Star Wars faithful amongst us, that sent a shot of adrenaline and goose bumps up our spines. We were immediately transported to a galaxy far far away. Lightsabers and Jedi Knights came to the forefronts of our minds. It’s all a magical thing really. And what better experience to have when one thinks of a movie than to consider the possible? I know, I know… I’m a huge fan of independent films. I’m a huge fan of small films done on über tight budgets. (Speaking of which, I’m watching Victoria tonight and I cannot wait to report back to you just a freaking awesome it is… but I digress.) And this all runs counter to Disney and Lucasfilm’s Monolithic monster that is Star Wars. But screw that. I want my cake, and I’ll also have it too – thank you very much. Deal.

Anyway, here’s a super short, super cool, little announcement of the fact that Star Wars Ep. Eight is currently in development. Notice that tight music? Oh my good lord in heaven I was wigging… Enough, watch it. Oh wait, if you haven’t seen VII, oh screw that. Of course there are going to be spoilers if you haven’t seen VII. Everyone has seen VII. And if you haven’t, see my opening riff on how much I despise you for YET ANOTHER TIME SAVING REASON.

Come on!?!? That was tight. Nothing exactly new. But it’s freaking awesome to flip back behind the screen from that shot and see the applause and the excitement. But I will say this that Boyega is the one that actually made the announcement first while on the red carpet of the BAFTA awards… “Tomorrow I have pickups at 6:30!” Which blew everyone’s collective minds. Go get ’em John!
