Black Mirror Season 3 Out October 21

Black Mirror Season 3 Out October 21

TV is a blackhole of wasted time and mind sink banalities. You can’t argue this fact with me because it’s obviously true. I think I read somewhere that this season the networks are launching more than 500 new scripted shows and 71 new Netflix shows.  So yeah, of course I am right. 500?!?

But sometimes there comes a show (other than Westworld, which I am totally obsessing over right now) that just blows the doors off of everything else. And that show is Black Mirror. If you haven’t heard of Black Mirror before because you somehow missed me talking about it before I have to say, you are welcome. Like seriously. Here, I chatted about it here first, and then later here. And now this season 3 update. If you have zero idea what Black Mirror is about, take Twilight Zone, add copious amounts of LSD, and modern times headlines from tomorrow’s newspapers, and then add amazing acting and you have Black Mirror.

This season was purchased from the BBC by Netflix, because original content is king, and Netflix has all the money in the world for new content these days. There will be six new shows on October 21, and then six more later in the season. It’s still unclear exactly when as yet.

But if you watch through this trailer, you will see right away that the show has all kinds of awesome actors this year. Let’s play a game of Where’s Waldo, and see how many you can name…

Ep 1 – San Junipero

Will star Doctor Who’s Gugu Mbatha-Raw and the Martian’s Mackenzie Davis, this episode is directed by Kill Your Friends’ Owen Harris.

Ep 2 – Shut Up and Dance
Jerome Flynn and The Imitation Game’s Alex Lawther will be directed by James Watkins (Bastille Day).

Ep 3 – Nosedive
James Norton joins Jurassic World’s Bryce Dallas Howard and Star Trek Into Darkness’ Alice Eve, in an episode directed by Atonement’s Joe Wright.

Ep 4 – Men Against Fire
House of Cards’ own Doug Stamper Michael Kelly will join Malachi Kirby and Madeline Brewer for an episode directed by Jakob Verbruggen (The Fall).

Ep 5 –  Hated in the Nation
Kelly MacDonald will star in this episode, which is set to be directed by Doctor Who veteran James Hawes.

Ep 6 – Playtest
Wyatt Russell will star alongside Hannah John-Kamen in this video game-themed episode, with 10 Cloverfield Lane’s Dan Trachtenberg on writing and directing duties.

If that isn’t enough fire power for you, Parks and Recreation co-creator Mike Schur is involved with Shut Up and Dance. As is Rashida Jones (From Parks and Recreation). And then you have 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg  writing and directing Playtest. Come on. 10 Cloverfield was an awesome black box pick up for the Cloverfield universe.

These ideas look like 10’s. All 10’s. I personally can’t wait for the 21st for Netflix to release these things. Man, they look good.
